11 Things Hillary Can Do While In Brooklyn

by Lauren Holter

Hillary Clinton's 2016 president bid is (almost) official. On Friday, Politico reported that her team signed a lease for the Clinton campaign headquarters in Brooklyn. Federal Election Commission rules say that a candidate must file the official presidential bid paperwork within 15 days of conducting any campaign activities, so that long-awaited announcement should set all our minds at ease soon. In the meantime, we can daydream about all the fun, hipster things Clinton's going to do while campaigning in Brooklyn.

The building in Brooklyn Heights describes itself as "Modern offices. Brooklyn cool." on its website and Clinton's about to make that building 1,000 times cooler. The campaign will have two full floors of the building that also houses a branch of Morgan Stanley. According to Politico, the Clinton 2016 campaign already has about 35 staff members in New York, sleeping on people's couches and working out of Starbucks, until the campaign is officially announced.

It's not surprising that Clinton chose Brooklyn for her campaign headquarters, as she and Bill already have ties to New York with the Clinton Foundation operating out of Manhattan, but Brooklyn will be a major change of scene for the political powerhouse. Here are 11 things Clinton can do while in Brooklyn that will make every millennial super jealous.

1. Drink Gin

Whether it's out of a mason jar or fancy cocktail glass, Clinton can enjoy the artisanal small-batch gin produced by Brooklyn Gin. The liquor could even be the official alcohol of the campaign (Brooklynites would love to toast Clinton 2016 with a gin cocktail).

2. Play Skee-Ball

Once reserved for kids at Chuck E. Cheese's, skee-ball has made a comeback as a drinking game for young hipsters because drunk people really enjoy throwing heavy balls at small targets. Clinton could probably school some 22 year olds in skee-ball.

3. Flea Markets

Although Clinton is too classy to wear second-hand clothing, she could still stroll through the markets, shaking hands and kissing babies, and try some of the delicious street food.

4. Eat Pizza

While I can't say for certain, I'm willing to assume that Clinton enjoys a good slice of pizza (because who doesn't?) and New Yorkers know their pies. She can eat her way through Brooklyn's best slices, from Grimaldi's to Lucali.

5. Play Video Games

Brooklyn hipsters are also really into old-school arcade games at bars. Clinton would no doubt set a few records while sipping an American-brewed IPA.

6. Farmers Markets

The presidential hopeful needs to stay healthy for her eight years in office, so she might as well start now. She can buy all locally-grown organic produce from one of Brooklyn's overcrowded markets.

7. Live Music + Bowling

There are various music venues nearby, but Clinton would enjoy Brooklyn Bowl's two-in-one bowling and live music. It's the most pragmatic music choice for the politician.

8. Biking

In true Brooklyn fashion, Clinton could start biking to the office to stay fit and cut back on greenhouse gas emissions.

9. Play Shuffleboard

Although shuffleboard used to only be popular at nursing homes, Brooklyn millennials love it. Clinton could dominate at the game at one of the shuffleboard bars throughout Brooklyn.

10. Brooklyn Brewery

Not only can Clinton drink Brooklyn beers, she can visit the Brooklyn Brewery and taste each of the delicious brews.

11. Rooftop Parties

Clinton's bound to be invited to some awesome parties while in Brooklyn (although she's yet to accept my invitations) and drinking in the open air with a view of Manhattan makes for a great night.
