Congrats Are In Order For Kendrick Lamar!

You guys, it's time to peel those posters off your wall, get the Hey Arnold-esque shrine out of your closet, and throw away all those notebooks that housed an insatiable amount of "Mrs. Kendrick Lamar" scribbles: The day of reckoning has finally come, because the amazing talent is about to be a spoken for man. I know, I know, I suppose we should have all seen this coming, but now there's no denying it: Kendrick Lamar is now engaged to Whitney Alford, his longtime girlfriend.

Aside from the woe is me-esque feelings we may all be experiencing right now, I have to admit, this is actually incredibly heartwarming news — the couple have been dating for several years. As E! Online reports:

In an on-air interview with the Power 105.1 radio show The Breakfast Club on Friday, the 27-year-old rapper confirmed he is engaged to his high school sweetheart, Whitney Alford, following recent rumors. When asked if the reports were true, he said, "Yeah, definitely. I'm loyal to the soil."

Did you see that?! Loyal. To. The. Soil. That's not only sweet, that's downright poetic! (Honestly, I wouldn't expect any less from Lamar — especially not after his last single, "i.") Ladies and gents, we should all dream of our significant other's reaction to rumors of our burgeoning relationships being that utterly cool one day. I mean, that is the sort of thinking we're going to have to grow accustomed to, since Lamar is officially off the market.

But really, we should be happy for him. He's succeeding not only with a great career, but with a great relationship. Congrats to the happy couple!
