Don't Ever Mess With Klaroline Fans

by Kelly Schremph

There are times when 'shipping your favorite TVD couple can be a very difficult cross to bear. For example, when one half of said duo leaves the show for a New Orleans-based spin-off, I find that tends to throw a massive wrench into things. Yes, I am of course referring to the greatest Vampire Diaries 'ship of all time, Klaroline. Klaus and Caroline have shared a palpable chemistry right from the start, which began all the way back in Season 3. They became the couple TVD viewers never even knew they wanted, but once that initial spark ignited, there was no amount of water that could put that flame out. It doesn't matter that they're now on different shows — diehard 'shippers like myself will never give up on rooting for these two.

However, there are those out there (you know who you are) who remain adamantly against Klaus and Caroline ever getting together. Some of you may be Team Steroline, while others want Klaus to eventually end up with Hayley or Cami. And that's fine, to an extent. We all have the right to 'ship whatever TVD couple our (still-beating) heart's desire, and most fans do so with a fiery passion. But there's a difference between building up your own favorite pairing and tearing someone else's down. So unless you want Klaus' wrath to look like child's play, here are a few things you should never, under any circumstances, say to a Klaroline fan. Consider yourselves warned…

"Caroline & Stefan Are Meant For Each Other"

You're right, because that relationship has been doing really well so far. First, Stefan only showed interest after Caroline's mom died, and then they proceeded to both turn off their humanity switches and engage in emotionless sex. Yup. That's the stuff fairytales are made of right there.

"They Aren't Even On The Same Show Anymore"

Have you ever heard of something called a crossover? And who's to say that Caroline couldn't move to New Orleans permanently? Plus, these are vampires we're talking about here. It doesn't exactly qualify as a long distance relationship when both characters have the power of super speed.

"Caroline Is Too Good For Klaus"

Granted, I'll admit Klaus certainly has his fair share of flaws, but that's part of what makes these two so great together. Caroline has a way of bringing out the best in him like no one else can. And, by the same token, he gets her to loosen up a bit and relish in her vampire nature. They balance each other out in the best way possible. Sorry, but you'll have to do better than that to sink this 'ship.

"They Have Like Zero Chemistry"

I'm sorry, but WHAT? Seriously, you may want to think about getting your eyes checked because what you're saying makes absolutely no sense. If they had any more chemistry our televisions would melt. Now if you'll excuse me, I don't have time for such crazy talk.

"Klaus Belongs With Cami"

Really? That's the great love you imagine him having? They have barely spent any time together this season. I'm starting to seriously wonder if you even watch these CW shows.

"They're Completely Overrated"

Clearly, you're unable to appreciate great things even when they're staring you in the face. I suppose you also dislike pizza and think that Nutella is just "OK." I think it's time for you to leave this conversation now.

"You Are Way Too Invested In This. It's Not Real Life!"

I'm tempted to not even dignify this with an answer. Yes, I realize that they aren't actually a real-life couple, but that doesn't mean I don't have the right to care about them as much or as little as I want. Plus, what do you care? It's not as if I'm trying to force my feelings upon you. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to try and compel this entire conversation from my mind.

"Elena's Departure Has Ruined Klaroline's Chances For Good."

While I'll admit that this recent turn of events makes Caroline's departure slightly less likely — given that she may become the show's leading lady — let me remind you that there still hasn't been any confirmation in regards to that possibility. In fact, Julie Plec made a point of saying that the story will continue focus on the Salvatore brothers specifically, along with the rest of the ensemble. So nothing's been set in stone, thank you very much. Plus, worse case scenario, she could always crossover to The Originals after TVD ends, which could be as soon as next season for all we know. Now please do me a favor and leave me and my bubble of optimism alone.
