'If There Be Thorns' Brings Jason Lewis Back To TV

by Lindsey Kupfer

The Dollanganger family is back on Lifetime for If There Be Thorns , the third chapter of V.C. Andrew’s Flowers in The Attic series, and more family secrets are sure to be exposed. In every installment, the actors who play the Dollanganger children have changed, while their mother is always played by Heather Graham, who just gets creepier every time. This time around Jason Lewis plays Chris Dollanganger and while his name may not be super familiar, you probably recognize him from his past roles on TV.

First, if you haven’t seen Flowers in The Attic or Petals on The Wind, let me refresh your memory. After losing her husband, Corrine Dollanganger moves her children (Cathy, Chris, Carrie, and Cory) to Foxworth Hall where she grew up. Their grandma Olivia and Corrine lock the four children in the attic for three years, leading the older kids Cathy and Chris to fall in love. Corrine pretty much wins worst mother of the year award. The children finally escape the attic, which is where Petals on The Wind picks up. The second movie includes more incest between Chris and Cathy. Everyone hates Corrine, so to get back at her, Cathy seduces Corrine’s husband and gets pregnant, leading Chris and Cathy to start a new life together in California where no one has to know they are brother and sister. Of course, more drama follows, as shown in the trailer for the Lifetime adaptation below.

Now, back to Jason Lewis and where we’ve seen this handsome man before.

Sex and the City

Yes, Christopher is played by none other than Smith Jerrod. Lewis appeared on Sex and The City as Samantha's hunky actor boyfriend Smith during Seasons 5 and 6 of the show. He also had a role in both of the Sex and the City movies.

Charmed

After his stint on Sex and The City, Lewis played Dex Lawson on Charmed in 2005. His character was the short-lived husband of Phoebe Halliwell (Alyssa Milano).

Brothers & Sisters

Lewis joined the cast of Brothers & Sisters in its season as a closeted gay soap opera actor who hooks up with Kevin Walker.

How I Met Your Mother

Even though he was only a very tiny part, it was one of my all-time favorite Jason Lewis roles. Remember Tony, the guy that Stella left Ted for in Season 4? Well, Tony made a movie called The Wedding Bride about Ted and Stella's relationship, casting Lewis to play him in the fake movie.

Beverly Hills, 90210

In his second role ever, Lewis joined the original cast of Beverly Hills 90210 for four episodes playing Rob Andrews, the love interest for Tiffani-Amber Thiessen, creating one of the most beautiful fictional couples of all time.
