We Need More Courteney Cox After 'Cougar Town'

by Caitlin Gallagher

Sadly, the end of Cougar Town is really happening this time. The whole cul-de-sac crew will be saying goodbye on March 31, so does Courteney Cox have any plans now that the show is truly over? The finale episode is entitled "Mary Jane's Last Dance" and Cox directed it. But once the six-season show — that survived after switching networks from ABC to TBS — is finished at 11 p.m. on Tuesday, where can we get our Cox fix? We'll have to let go of Jules, but that doesn't mean we need to say farewell to the actress who plays her.

There were rumors that Cox came up with the idea for a show that would be about three women and their families — and star Cox, Jennifer Aniston, and Lisa Kudrow. But alas, Cox told E! back in Oct. 2014 that it wasn't true. (Booo.) But she will be playing a version of herself on VH1's amazing new show Barely Famous. Cox will be in the episode "Favorite Socks" airing on April 1, alongside her real-life friends Sara and Erin Foster (who star in the faux reality show). She's joining a list of other stars who've already made cameos, like Kate Hudson, Jessica Alba, and Nicole Richie. Let's hope Cox decides to show up on her friends' show again, since her Barely Famous episode airs only one day after the Cougar Town series finale. Couldn't she have at least spread it out?

As for her personal life, after a super divorce from David Arquette, Cox has moved on and is planning her wedding to Snow Patrol's Johnny McDaid. With no upcoming projects listed on Cox's IMDb page or evidence of her taking on any new roles immediately, it looks like the actress may be taking a well-earned break for right now. Plus, no one said planning a wedding was easy.

Maybe eventually Cox can show up on Matthew Perry's Odd Couple (the CBS show is almost certain to be renewed) since he came on Cougar Town in Season 5 (Monica and Chandler forever!). Or if Kudrow's The Comeback gets a Season 3, Cox could pop over on that (Cox does appear in Kudrow's Web Therapy). Of course, Cox doesn't need to depend on her Friends friends for work, but there is something comforting in the fact that they still actually like each other.

Since Cox is most likely taking a hiatus from TV and other projects, your most reliable bet to catch her is to turn to Netflix for every episode of Friends. But before you do that, fill up your wine glass and prepare for the end of Cougar Town .
