Paramore singer Hayley Williams moshes to the beat of her own drum, on stage and when it comes to fashion, usually while wearing two different colored Chucks. Now, Hayley Williams is launching Kiss-Off, an online beauty and music series on Popular TV. Can I get a "Mwah"?!
Seriously, I remember reading Williams' Nylon cover story a few years back, in which the head of her record label noted that when she met the redheaded cutie, Williams was wearing two different sneakers. She has been cultivating her unique, punk pixie style for years and now is the perfect time to share her perspective and passion for expression, since she's not exactly sharing standard tips with the show.
Kiss-Off is comprised of three-to-five minute webisodes focused on beauty and music, two topics of which Williams is well-versed. The videos are bite-sized and digestible, and I look forward to tuning in.
The series will air on Popular TV on Tuesdays. Popular is a platform that was created by Nylon's cofounders and that is aimed at millennials — aka Williams' core demographic.
The debut episode finds Williams and makeup artist Brian J. O'Connor recreating a David Bowie-inspired look from Ladies and Gentleman, The Fabulous Stains, a 1982 cult flick.
Already, I can tell this will be a totally offbeat series and I'm way, way into it.
Williams told WWD that the show is not going to be tutorial-based or like any of the billion makeup vids you can troll on YouTube. The singer said, "[The show] isn't about what color looks good on your skin tone or how to make your lips look bigger or contour this or that." So don't expect any Kylie Jenner-inspired sessions, makeup mavens.
Instead, it's about self-expression and discovery. Williams continued, "It’s about what do you like and how can you express that and find out what your look is by trying new things.
It sounds like it'll be experimental in some ways. And it won't just be about cosmetics or even Williams' own band, although it is a fresh, self-promotional platform for the hit-making group.
Williams explained, "It won't be specific to Paramore. That was something I was very adamant about from the get-go. I want to have other artists on the show, interview them about what inspires them and maybe how they found their look and what the process was for that."
In honor of Kiss-Off, these are 10 of Williams' most adventurous looks.
1. Bows
The bows and the shape of her dress were super cute, with her flame-hued hair adding the pop.
2. Two-Toned
Williams took two-toned hair to the utmost extreme with her half-hot pink and half-Ronald McDonald red locks. Even the bangs were perfectly split. It appeared to be a hair color marvel.
3. The Blues
I'm not used to seeing Williams with blue hair, but it was such a cute shade on her. Her black two piece with zippers was punk yet chic. Just gorgeous. And those shoes? Want!!!
4. Back In Black
Williams can rock all-black and be semi-goth but she will never be boring, thanks to her bold ginger locks.
5. Caged
With the super short bob, leather skirt, and caged top, Williams was unusual but fashion-forward at once.
6. A Vision In White
Williams' white outfit showed a little midriff and boasted an asymmetrical hem. You can totally see that she takes a lot of inspo from Gwen Stefani by now, right?
7. Sunshine Day
The only thing brighter than Williams' hair was her sunny, smiley-face outfit.
8. All Sorts Of Stripes
Williams donned a stripped, cropped sweater top while performing. But she also swiped black, football player stripes under her eyes. Adorbs!
9. Layers
This is how you do layers when you are a touring musician! Her knotted houndstooth scarf, skully, and leather jacket paired perfectly. Who else adores those baby bangs?
10. Baby Bangs
Again, Williams was a fan of dual-toned hair and baby bangs... at the same time! Not many people can pull that off, but she sure can.
All you have to do is run down these photos of the singer's signature style and you know you are in for a treat with Kiss-Off. This web series is going to be so much fun. Let the experimenting and playing begin.
