Will Zayn Malik Change His Twitter Handle?
EDIT: As of April 30, 2015, Zayn Malik has removed every reference to 1D from his Twitter name and profile.
We will always remember where we were when Zayn Malik left One Direction. The 22-year-old singer claims his departure is out of a desire to live a normal life, but none of our lives will ever be normal again. Whether you're a fan of One Direction, whether you hate One Direction, or whether you hate One Direction but still know all of their names no longer matters. The band is now down to four members instead of five, and nothing will ever be the same. Including his Twitter handle — because Malik will have to change his Twitter name if he's going to leave the band. Why? Because he's currently listed zaynmalik1D.
All right, so Malik's actual handle is a simple @zaynmalik — but his listed name still remains zaynmalik1D. It seems like the question is not will he change it, but more like when will he change it. On the one hand, the name line is obviously inaccurate now that Malik is no longer a member of the famous band. On the other hand, he might keep the name line the way that it is in homage to the band that made him famous and to the four boys that he still considers close friends and confidantes. After all, why would he technically need to change it?
There's also the fact that Malik doesn't tweet often enough that he needs to consider little things like what his name line is. He returned to Twitter with a simple "hi," and had #HiZayn trending the entire morning. While he has tweeted a lot more over the past few months, in general, he is the least Twitter-happy member of the band. Still, it's got to be only a matter of time before Malik changes that name line, right? My heart already can't handle it.
