'PLL's Big A Reveal Wasn't Really A Reveal At All
Surprise, bitches — after five seasons of convincing us that A wasn't Alison's twin, I. Marlene King dropped a major twist on PLL fans at the end of Tuesday night's finale. Charles DiLaurentis is Jason's twin and Big A on Pretty Little Liars , but after all of the hype and five seasons of waiting, this isn't quite the BIG reveal we thought it would be. Mostly because, home video aside, we never saw Charles' face. Is Charles a totally new character? Is Charles DiLaurentis Andrew? WE STILL DON'T KNOW.
This isn't the first time that PLL has led us down this rabbit hole and made wildly lofty promises that it didn't actually deliver on in a major way. Tuesday night's Big A Reveal during "Welcome to the Dollhouse" was more like a Big Question Avalanche — as in, I'm being totally buried by my questions right now and I don't know what to do. Well, buried by my questions and my anger that, while PLL's finale did deliver a heartbreaking and kind of beautiful "reveal," A still doesn't have a face. And instead of giving us the answer that was promised, Pretty Little Liars dropped a big twist.
Sure, I'm excited that I won't have to spend the next two seasons of PLL knowing A's identity and being so frustrated that the Liars can't figure it out. But now that I have so many more questions, I feel like this wasn't a reveal at all — which shouldn't come as a surprise, but it's still so damn infuriating. So, where does this leave us with the series? Well, Spencer may or may not have realized that fact that Big A is possibly Jason's twin and her half brother as well. Let the digging begin and, if there's anything to be excited for, it's to see Mr. Hastings talk his way out of this one when Spencer finally gets out of the dollhouse.
