Willow Shields Wins Most-Improved On 'DWTS'

by Martha Sorren

Last week I deemed the Mockingjay star worthy of your attention on Dancing With the Stars, but wow did she improve in just one week. Willow Shields' second dance showed she's in it to win it. In fact, judge Carrie Ann Inaba compared her talent to that of last week's winner Rumer Willis. Willow's week two dance was an intense number set to Gotye's "Somebody That I Used to Know," and it required some serious focus.

Mark Ballas, choreography genius that he is, channeled the iconic music video by having Willow and himself start as part of a painting before breaking into a sharp sequence of technical dance moves that Willow absolutely nailed. I was blown away by her transformation from week one, and so was everyone else. "Your maturity and growth in a week is outstanding ... you're a potential winner," judge Bruno Tonioli announced after they competed.

The pair scored a 32 out of 40, which was a seven point improvement over last week. That's a huge margin of growth over just one week, especially for the competition's youngest star. Mark Ballas was thrilled with his partner's improvement. "[She showed] huge progression from last week and that's all it's about," Mark gushed. Willow is just proof that age doesn't matter, and as long as she's willing to keep learning it's clear she can continue improving at a rapid rate.

This competition just gained another potential winner, so early frontrunners Derek Hough/Nastia Liukin and Val Chmerkovskiy/Rumer Willis better watch out. Team Markingjay is coming for them.
