Le Sigh: Rider Strong's Getting Married
Girls who grew up in the nineties totally smitten with Cory Matthew's best friend forever, Shawn Hunter: get your dream crushers ready. The Boy Meets World star is getting married on Sunday. I know, I know — you totally thought he was your one true love. But I'm sorry, it had to be this way.
The 33-year-old Strong met his wife-to-be, Alexandra Barreto, on the set of their short-lived 2006 WB sitcom, Pepper Dennis, where Strong played a cameraman named Chick to Rebecca Romijn's eponymous television reporter. But Barreto and Strong's bond was apparently strong enough to continue working together, including the horror film of the same year, Tooth and Nail.
The duo plan to wed in the land of the Walking Etsy — Portland, Oregon — so it sounds like things are about to get pretty hip and DIY up in here. Not that it already hasn't: Strong apparently handcrafted Barreto's engagement ring himself! Oh really? Yes, really.
"I spent weeks making the ring in secret," explained Strong. "I carved the ring out of wax, cast it in white gold and had my dad make a wooden ring box for me. My dad made my mom's ring, so I was following in his footsteps." Add to that the fact that he proposed in the days leading up to Christmas 2012 underneath the shade of some redwood trees while it rained because ugh isn't life just like a romantic comedy? And well, shucks. It all sounds sort of adorable and sweet, doesn't it? Good for them. Normalcy is nice every so often, so I've heard.
Stay weird and congratulations, you crazy kids.
