First, I'm going to need every Pretty Little Liars and Ezria fan out there to take a deep breath, because this news is hard to digest. Ready? Ian Harding is not single and has been in a relationship for the past four years. I know, I know. I told you it wasn't an easy piece of news to share, especially to those who ship Harding's character, Ezra Fitz, super hard with Lucy Hale's PLL character, Aria Montgomery. Even though the two play love interests on TV, it's hard to forget that the two don't date in real life. Not to mention, it's hard trying to figure out why they aren't.
Well, seeing as Harding is in a serious relationship would kind of make it difficult for the actor to date Hale. Surprisingly, Harding opened up to People about his personal life — something he rarely does — and even discussed his love life. He said, "I've had a girlfriend for four years."
So, why hasn't he opened up before? Harding explained,
I think what happens is the moment that you open that up and the moment that you talk about it it's now open for everybody to discuss. And, in this line of work, you have to just reveal and give so much of yourself over and over again, that to have something private is kind of a novelty. So, yeah, that's why I've kept it quiet and I really won't say much else about it other than it's awesome.
How are my Ezria shippers doing? You still breathing? I know it's hard to deal with the fact that Aria and Ezra are no longer together on PLL, but to accept that they aren't together IRL? Yeah, it's pretty rough. Before anyone says, "His girlfriend might be Lucy," it's not. How do I know? She's been spotted with different guys over the past few years, and they weren't Harding.
To help you deal with such a brutal blow to the TV relationship many adore so much, just remember there's still a good chance that Ezria will reunite (that is, if Ezra isn't "Big A" or Aria isn't the mastermind behind "A") on PLL, which means more scenes like this:
