Although I'd been hopeful that Dr. Herman's emotional surgery had really brought Calzona back for good, Grey's Anatomy dashed those hopes by having Callie go out with another woman on this week's episode. Even worse was that Arizona spotted the two of them kissing in the hospital lobby. It was an awkward and sad moment, and a further reminder that while the pair is there for each other in the hard times, they're not actively trying to get back together.
Arizona was clearly weirded out by the encounter and tried in vain to confront Callie about it. "It's not your business who I kiss," Callie snapped at her before leaving the room. But by the end of the episode, it turned out that all Arizona wanted to do was warn Callie of the woman she was seeing. Arizona used to date her, too, and she was kind of a psycho. "She wanted us to get matching tattoos for our four week anniversary," Arizona cautioned Callie. And after Arizona said no to the tattoo, the woman apparently went a little crazy with a steak knife. "I wasn't jealous. I was just worried," Arizona said.
Needless to say, Callie was grateful for the advice, and it was nice to see the two women laughing and bonding again. Yes, it was about dating other people, but it was a step in the right direction.
They've kind of been avoiding each other this whole season, but now it seems they're on the path to solid friendship. Will that turn into love again? Maybe. But if friends is all we get, I'll take it.
