Everything We Know About 'Spectre' So Far
ICYMI, there's a new teaser poster for Spectre out, and even though it's just Daniel Craig as 007 dressed down in a mock turtleneck, it's still got us pretty excited — not only because he still looks so decidedly Bond, but also because it actually might reveal a few spoilers about Spectre . The poster, revealed on Tuesday, is only the latest in a series of unbearably vague teasers that Sony has released for the 24th Bond film, due out November 6.
In the poster, Craig looks pretty cozy — and, of course, Twitter was quick to point out that he looked strikingly like Archer, another handsome (albeit, animated) secret agent. The poster clearly also took inspiration from Roger Moore's fresh outfit in a past Bond film, Live And Let Die .
News and clues about Spectre have been leaked out ever so slowly, even though the full script supposedly leaked in the mess of the Sony hack. If that's true, where are all the Spectre secrets? Apart from knowing that Spectre will take Bond all around the globe and that it's HEAVY on the badass Bond girls, it feels like we know nothing about this movie!
But, maybe a little regrouping is all we need. Let's take a comprehensive look at all the bits and pieces of info we already know about the movie, since director Sam Mendes will probably test every fan's patience over the next 5 months until it's release date. Much like the world, the teasers are not enough, Mendes!
The Concept
Sam Mendes announced early on the general concept for the film:
A cryptic message from Bond’s past sends him on a trail to uncover a sinister organization. While M battles political forces to keep the secret service alive, Bond peels back the layers of deceit to reveal the terrible truth behind SPECTRE.
Sure, that doesn't reveal much, but it's definitely interesting.
The Villain May Be Portrayed By Christoph Waltz
There's like a 60/40 chance that this is true — and it's what true fans think, anyway. Waltz is a definite in the movie, and, as Screenrant pointed out, many speculated that the Austrian actor with a penchant for playing villains will be bringing back the legendary Bond role of Ernst Stavro Blofeld — aka, the evil head of SPECTRE who wants to take over the world. (Also, he's the infamous evil genius Bond villain that inspired the character of Dr. Evil in Austin Powers, so kind of all owe a lot to him.)
Though Waltz has said that his character's name is Franz Oberhauser, and not Blofeld, I'm still holding out hope: I mean, obviously this movie is called SPECTRE, so Blofeld has to come into play some time...
The Bond Girls
Some pretty heavy hitters are playing the Bond girls in Spectre. There's the ever beautiful Monica Bellucci playing Lucia Sciarra — one of the only Bond girls that is his same age, The Washington Post pointed out. There's also French actress Léa Seydoux of Blue Is The Warmest Colour fame who will be playing Madeleine Swann, and Stephanie Sigman — the first Mexican actress to play a Bond girl — as a character named Estelle (other details unclear).
More New Cast Additions
New dudes, too! Dave Baustita from in Guardians Of The Galaxy is joining the 007 universe to play an assassin in Spectre, and Andrew Brown (Moriarty from BBC's Sherlock) will be playing a Denbigh, a member of the British government.
The Ride
As is tradition, Bond has a sick whip in Spectre. EON Productions and Aston Martin (Bond's classic) revealed the new car, an Aston Martin DB10, which is slicker and sleeker than ever and probably cost more than my college education (note: they are only producing 10 of these cars).
The Scenery
Spectre's gonna be set all over the damn place! In this trailer we see some of the beautiful locales that Sam Mendes shot at, including Austria, London, Mexico City and Rome.
Which leads us to the question... who's singing the theme song?!
