Erin & Sara Foster of 'Barely Famous' Are Awesome

by Lindsay Denninger

Is anyone else as excited for Barely Famous as I am? Sara and Erin Foster seem to be taking the “every celebrity has a reality show” trend and turning it over to reveal all the crazy, nonsensical stuff that happens when people get a camera on them. The gist of their show, Barely Famous, is that the Foster sisters are celebrities who are just too good for a reality show, and they spend all of their time talking about it. Meta, right? But who are Sara and Erin Foster? Turns out they’ve been in Hollywood their whole lives, boasting a famous dad and plenty of well-publicized gal pals (some of whom we’ll see on Barely Famous).

I sincerely hope that their show does well, because VH1’s programming has come a long way from Flavor of Love and Mob Wives, hasn’t it? With well-written scripted shows like Hindsight and tongue-in-cheek celeb commentary like Barely Famous, VH1 is realizing that not all of their TV has to involved women spitting on one another and mud wrestling to get a date with Bret Michaels (no offense, Bret). We need smart shows, you guys! And speaking of smart shows, let’s officially meet Sara and Erin Foster: Here are a few facts you need to know before you watch Barely Famous.

Their Dad Is a Big Name In The Music Business

Sara and Erin’s dad is none other than famed music producer David Foster. Currently the chairman of Verve Music Group, Foster has produced songs for basically everybody who ever had a hit tune in the music industry. We’re talking *NSYNC, Donna Summer, Kenny Rogers, Cher, Michael Jackson, Chicago, Madonna, Christina Aguilera, Beyoncé, Seal, Mariah Carey, and Andrea Bocelli: The list goes on and on. Foster has 16 Grammy statues somewhere in his home, along with an Emmy Award, a Golden Globe Award, and an Academy Award. So close to an EGOT, David. So close.

They Have Some Pretty Famous Friends

Both Sara and Erin’s Instagram accounts are odes to their many pals, all of which you’ve seen before. Their entourage includes Courtney Cox, jewelry designer Jennifer Meyer, Kate Hudson, Ashley Benson, Rachel Zoe, Nicole Richie, Demi Moore, Jessica Alba, and Gwen Stefani. Hey, ladies: Can I come to your sleepovers? Pretty please? Erin was also rumored to be dating One Direction’s Harry Styles, but I won’t tell Taylor Swift if you won’t.

They Both Starred On Teen Soaps

If you love soapy teen dramas like I do, you’ve definitely seen these sisters on the small screen. Sara played Jen Clark for three years on the CW reboot of Beverly Hills, 90210, and Erin played Heather, girlfriend of Kevin Volchok, for a season on The O.C..

They Have Siblings With Star Power

Because of their dad’s marriages to Linda Thompson and Yolanda Hadid, the Fosters can count Brody Jenner, Brandon Jenner, and Gigi Hadid as family (or former family). They should ask Brody what it's like to be on a fake reality show! He has plenty of experience. Music runs in the family, too — their half-sister, Amy Foster-Gillies is a songwriter.

They Got Snubbed By Madonna

According to an interview with People, David Foster, the sisters’ dad, let them in on a little secret when they were teens: Madonna was going to be at their house one afternoon after school. When the girls showed up, Sara says, “Madonna was not impressed! She was like, ‘What are these kids doing here?’” Oh, well, ladies — you win some, you lose some.

And there you have it: You’re now prepped and ready to watch the hilarious Barely Famous, premiering March 18.
