It has only been a few days since the trailer for the upcoming fifth season of Game Of Thrones dropped, so hopefully by now you've had an opportunity to mentally work through it. Now, it's time to discuss that one specific moment within it. You know, those guys in the golden masks who were lurking around? I'm betting you're wondering who they were. Just sitting around your house, wishing there was someone in your life who'd read all five Game of Thrones books, even lugging the hardcover version of the fifth one around on the subway, just so you could have some insight on these new characters. WELL, GUESS WHAT? That person is me, and you're welcome. (No but seriously, that book is so heavy, you owe me.)
Now, if you've read this far, it should be clear that I'm about to reveal some book spoilers. But, in case that didn't come through — SPOILERS AHEAD. It's nothing huge; just a group of characters that we haven't been introduced to yet. You're perfectly welcome to wait until the premiere on Apr. 12 to find out what their deal is.
But, if you don't want to wait that long, let me be the first to inform you that those be-masked gentlemen are likely the Sons of the Harpy, the secret community of noblemen in the city of Mereen that she takes over. At first I was hoping they might be the Undying Ones, since we haven't really gotten any prophecies in the show yet, and they're (presumably) such a big part of the books. However, as Vanity Fair pointed out, we can see Grey Worm and Daenerys' other legions fighting with them, so it can only be the Sons.
So there you have it! Mystery solved! Or, if you bailed out before the explanation of, mystery intact for another... month or so. Can't wait! Check out the trailer again below.
