Worst. 'Gotham' News. Ever.

by Alexis Rhiannon

I have terrible news, you guys — and shocking news at that: According to EW, Jada Pinkett Smith is leaving Gotham prior to season 2 of the series. ICYMI, Pinkett Smith played the villainous gangster Fish Mooney on the first season of the series, and was pretty widely acknowledged to be everyone's favorite character. (I mean, right?! If there's someone here who disagrees with that, stand up and be counted, because it's most likely your fault that she's leaving.) Pinkett Smith announced her impending departure on not just one show, but two — Live! With Kelly and Michael and on Extra. Guess that must mean it's real. When asked by Kelly Ripa if she'd be sticking around, here's what Pinkett Smith had to say:

I don't think so, no. I signed for a year and the year is up. But there are some great things coming ahead on Gotham, believe you me. There's a lot of good stuff coming.

You may only have signed up for a year, but the rest of us signed up for forever! Why'd you let us go and fall in love with your character if you were just gonna walk her out the door after one season? *Sobs.* And then as if that wasn't heart-breaking enough, she smeared it even more in our faces when she spoke to Extra:

We're done. I did my year and I had a good time. The show is going to have an awesome finale!

Ughhhhhh, whyyyyyy? Why do you do this to us!? Especially since Gotham was already renewed for season 2 all the way back in January, it's now official that the show will be going on without her. Damnit. Do you think Fish would mind if I cry it out a little bit? Because this is just too much bad news to keep inside.
