When Did Aziz & Courtney Start Dating?

Aziz Ansari is dating chef Courtney McBroom, and I'm a little thrown off by it. To be clear, I'm not confused by the pairing itself, but just the fact that they popped up as a couple overnight — or at least that what it seems like to me. So when did Aziz Ansari and Courtney McBroom start dating? Ansari has been opening up about his relationship with McBroom quite a bit these days, notably in his new comedy special Aziz Ansari: Live At Madison Square Garden, so it's not hard to trace back when these two got together.

To go back to the beginning, the couple actually met while McBroom was in a relationship with someone else, so the infatuation was probably a little one-sided for a bit. Nevertheless, these two ran into each other again and hit it off.

In a May 2014 interview with Billboard Magazine , Ansari talked about his "nine-month relationship" with McBroom. I did some elementary school level math and this puts the start of their relationship at August 2013, so now, they've been together about a year and a half. During that interview he explained his decision to settle into a serious relationship with an odd metaphor: "I was the guy eating Skittles and having lots of fun, and then I was like, ‘I need a nice nutritious salad’ — she’s the salad.” That's pretty sweet in a unique sort of way.

Their relationship only started to gain public attention in August 2014 with headlines about "Aziz Ansari's new girlfriend" an entire a year after it all began.

In an August 2014 Us Weekly story, a source revealed that things were getting pretty serious with the couple: "Courtney has pretty much moved into Aziz's place in L.A. They've been visiting the city the past few days. He's writing a book about relationships as well lately, and is on deadline for that."

Well, looks like things are going pretty well for these two. One things for sure, he's faring better than Tom Haverford.

So I guess I was completely wrong when I thought that this relationship appeared overnight. It's been well over a year, and I guess I am just late to the news. Aziz Ansari and Courtney McBroom seem to be going strong and it will be exciting to see what's next for the adorable duo.
