There's a lot that awesome about your period — theoretically, at least. In practice, while still awesome, this phenomenal bodily function can also result in a lot of period horror stories. But you know what? It's all good, because pretty much every single woman on the planet has gone through the same types of tales. We're all in this together, after all.
That's the subject BuzzFeed taps into in one of their latest videos, fittingly and simply titled, “Women Share Their Period Horror Stories.” In it, six women spill their most memorable period horror stories—and I'm pretty sure we can all relate to every single one of them. Seriously, you guys. I'm 99 percent positive that we all have a period hookup story, an “oh my god I forgot about my tampon” story, and so on and so forth. So hey, here's an idea: Let's all stop being embarrassed about them, shall we? Like comedian Cameron Esposito's period joke, BuzzFeed's video helps to demystify and destigmatize periods — something which desperately needs to happen. I mean, half the world's population has them, and yes, sometimes they can result in some unfortunate situations — but why do we have to feel ashamed about any of it? The real is: We don't.

1. The Hookup
You know when you hook up with someone one night and all seems well and good… until you wake up the next morning and discover that your period ambushed you in the night? Fun times, right? Here's how this woman coped with it: “I just hid in the bathroom for a half hour afterwards because I didn't know how to face him.” The good news is that when she did finally emerge from the bathroom, he was totally cool about it. They went out for breakfast, and three years later, they got married. Well played!
2. The Stealth Tampon
There's nothing quite like going to change your tampon, pulling the old one out, and preparing to put a new one in… only to find that there's still a string hanging out of your vag. Look at it this way: If you can fit two tampons in there at once, chances are good that getting a baby through there is probably going to be doable, too. If, y'know, you want babies. If you don't, that's OK too. Anyway. Moving on.
3. Camouflage
Changing your tampon when you're at work can be tricky, so I'm sure many of us have pulled the ol' “put it in your sleeve so no one has to see you carry it to the bathroom” maneuver. But what do you do when you're wearing a sleeveless shirt? This woman stuck it in her bra, which is actually a pretty brilliant solution. The trouble is, it doesn't always want to stay in your bra. And if you get distracted and stop to chat while you're in the hallway on the way to the loo… well, let's just say it might not end the way you want it to. Oh well. No shame, no regrets.
4. The Never-Ending Story
As this gal put it, “It's a period horror story every time I'm on my period.” Ayyyyy-men.
