'HTGAWM' Season 2 Needs More 'Shipping
Ah, summer hiatus: Is there anything worse? Just when things were starting to get really good, How To Get Away with Murder is about to be cruelly ripped from our grasp for months — months! How To Get Away With Murder was renewed for a second season back in November, and star Viola Davis just revealed her return via Twitter at the end of January — but we still don't have an exact start date for Season 2. As this is a Shondaland show, I think it's pretty safe to say that it will be returning at the end of September, as Grey's Anatomy and Scandal historically have — so buckle up for a long wait. You know what one of the hardest things about the several-month hiatus is going to be? The 'ships! I'm guessing a lot of things are going to be left open-ended after tonight's finale, and I'd hazard a guess that the show's many (many) ships will be left open. [UPDATE: ABC has announced that HTGAWM will premiere on Sep. 24.]
Ouch.
Leaving us hanging is a crime, really. Because, sure, we want to know who really killed Lila Stangard, but we also (really, really) want to know what's going to happen with Connor and Oliver. So, with that in mind, here's everything we need to see from the show's top 'ships in Season 2.
Disclaimer: All of these relationships are completely dysfunctional. That doesn't stop me from 'shipping them.
Connor and Oliver
They've had their (major) ups and downs, sure, but they've quickly become the most compelling relationship on the show. First things first, I think Conrad Ricamora needs to come back to Season 2 as a series regular, and we'll go from there.
Bonnie and Asher
Even a random hookup between these two seemed like the unlikeliest of unlikely things to happen on a show that's literally full of unlikely things, but now it's happened multiple times. For now, they're just keepin' things casual (as in Bonnie doesn't even acknowledge Asher's presence in public), but I have high hopes for them, no matter how hubristic said hopes might be. After all, we want to see more of Asher's sensitive side (how cute was it last week that he was so supportive of Bonnie's trial?), and Bonnie can get it.
Annalise and Nate
Who even knows where these two stand now. After all she's put him through, a reconciliation looks very unlikely — but see above for the show's stance on unlikely occurrences.
Laurel and Paul
Let's hope she dumps him (sorry, not sorry).
Wes and Rebecca
No. Just no. Also, I doubt they're going to be a thing next season, the way things are shaping up for Rebecca right now.
Wes and Annalise
Who even knows at this point? On a show with this many attractive people on it, pretty much any pairing imaginable is possible.
