How To Celebrate Mardi Gras Like Solange
If there's one thing that Solange can do better than pretty much everyone else in the universe, it's posting the most amazing and enviable photos on Instagram. The younger Knowles sister has done it again with pictures taken at this year's Mardi Gras celebration, from her effortlessly cool outfit (complete with a masquerade mask), to the dazzling array of colors, people, and music all coming together to celebrate in the streets of New Orleans. Just a few days before, Solange told Harper's Bazaar that she was planning to spend her first Valentine's Day as a newlywed in the Big Easy.
"My husband and I will come up with a fun theme — and go all out. Mardi Gras is incredible. I think that people have a certain viewpoint on what it might be like. For us, it's really spiritual — there's a lot of heritage and history thats celebrated."
For her Mardi Gras outfit, Solange wore a black dress with a billowy top and sheer skirt. She accessorized her look with a fun, feather crossbody bag and leopard print shoes reminiscent of a pair that she wore in her "Losing You" music video. Speaking of her footwear, Solange stayed true to what she told Harper's prior to partying in N'awlins:
"I need a sensible shoe — gone are the days that I'm in a crazy shoe that could kill me — I can't do it anymore. I'm not sure if it's cause I'm getting old, but my heels have to be 3.5 inch or less, or a chunky heel."
In true Solange style, the singer topped off her Mardi Gras outfit with an electric blue feathered mask as she twirled, danced, and joined the thousands of other partygoers on Fat Tuesday. Other celebrities were at Mardi Gras, too, but her sister Beyoncé was notably missing out on all the fun.
