As fashion week has evolved over the decades, it has become much less about which clothes are the most wearable and much more about how edgy they are, or even more than that — who's sitting in the front row next to the runway. For better or for worse, celebrities and shock value often are more important for new collections than them being quintessentially pretty. And, no, of course not all fashion has to be typically feminine or textbook-definition beautiful, but there certainly is still something to be said for just plain lovely things, right? This is where Zac Posen comes in. A red carpet favorite that manages to combine edgy designs and flat-out gorgeous colors/textures, the designer knows what he's doing. For Zac Posen's fall 2015 ready-to-wear collection, there were some serious sparkly, stunning gems floating down the runway.
While you've probably seen the Naomi Campbell x Zac Posen moment by now, there were also a few other stand-out shiny, glittery gowns that Posen sent down the runway, and they're certainly worth noting as well — as most gorgeous, sparkly things are, IMO. Whether you're a fan of just plain beautiful gowns or not, there are some definite red carpet possibilities to pay attention to. Here are the eight best, most fabulously high-shine moments from the Zac Posen show this fashion week.
1. Yellow, Anyone?
This texture combination and color palette is drop-dead gorgeous, as well as being a little unexpected.
2. Modern Cinderella
If Cinderella went to cocktail parties, I think this is what she would wear.
3. Emerald
How STUNNING is this shade?
4. Business On Top, Party On The Bottom
Who needs red sparkly shoes when you have a skirt?
5. Simple Silver
Don't you love gowns that have such simple silhouettes yet still manage to take your breath away? Yes. Me too.
6. Midnight Blue
This gown only has the slightest bit of sparkle and sheen, but the combination of fabrics is what makes it truly stunning.
7. Elle Woods, Is That You?
This dress screams Elle Woods attending fashion week.
8. That Naomi Moment
This speaks for itself.
