What's Really Up With Selena & Zedd?
I have mixed feelings about the fact that Selena Gomez and Zedd may potentially be dating. On one hand, I'm glad to see Gomez with anyone but Justin Bieber. On the other hand? I'm not sure I'm very impressed with Zedd just yet. I feel like there's something going on beneath the surface with him, and I just can't put my finger on it. Until, of course, I saw Gomez's latest Instagram photo and put the pieces together. As you might already know, Zedd and Gomez have an upcoming single (and music video) called "I Want You to Know" in the works, and what would promote a single better than the people who collaborated on it being in a well-timed relationship? It seems totally possible that Gomez and Zedd are dating to capitalize on the hype in time for their new single to be released.
Of course, they do make an adorable couple together, but let's remember that this is Selena Gomez. She's so beautiful she'd make an adorable couple with a lampshade. And I could be wrong. It happens occasionally. Maybe they fell in love while they were working on this song and have plans to live happily ever after. But because nothing is ever what it seems, I think it's worth it to dig a little deeper.
The timing is suspicious
You're telling me they made their first appearance in public as a possible couple just a couple of weeks before announcing their big single? I was not born yesterday, you two. I can see right through this. And it makes a lot of sense that this would be what's going on. It's a pretty simple plan: show up together at a high profile event like a Golden Globes after party, announce single, profit. Or am I just way too jaded?
They're going social media crazy
Selena Gomez has always seemed like a pretty private person where her personal life is concerned — to me, at least. And after a tumultuous relationship like the one she just got out of with Bieber, where every detail of every fight they had was made public in some way or another, you'd think she'd be looking for the exact opposite. Instead, Gomez and Zedd have shown up on each other's Instagram multiple times in the past few weeks, and to me, it looks like they're trying to keep rumors circulating. And it's working.
The motive is there
Honestly, why not fake a relationship to send that single to number one? Gomez has a ton of star power, and her music career is at its peak with "The Heart Wants What it Wants." That probably seems super attractive to Zedd, who put out a single in 2012 and hasn't really made much noise on mainstream radio airwaves since. Why not benefit?
