2015 Grammys Red Carpet's Most Awkward Moments, Because Even Ryan Seacrest & Giuliana Rancic Aren't Immune To Them
The Grammy Awards always have some cringe-worthy moments (I'm looking at you, Kanye West) — and the Grammys' red carpet is no exception. E!’s Ryan Seacrest and Giuliana Rancic did not disappoint by capturing (and sometimes contributing to) the most awkward moments of the 2015 Grammys red carpet. And, considering 2014 gave us the creepiest clown in all of existence and Pharrell Williams's Smokey the Bear hat, I honestly was expecting bigger and better bizarreness in 2015.
Lady Gaga is performing with Tony Bennett at the Grammys — but she kept it so classy on the red carpet — especially compared to previous years. (Remember the time she arrived in an egg back in 2011?) But who else showed up on the red carpet to make us feel uncomfortable? Here are some of the most awkward moments from the red carpet this year, so far:
Ryan Seacrest Singing Nick Jonas's Song
We finally found something that Seacrest is not good at — singing. When he interviewed Nick Jonas, he decided to sing a little bit of “Jealous” and we were not jealous of his pipes. Keep your day job(s), Seacrest.
Kat Graham's Shameless Deodorant Plug
When Kat Graham spoke to Rancic, she talked about the importance of not having pit stains in glamorous dresses during awards shows. At first, it was endearing and relatable, until you realized she was just promoting Degree Women. Not so cute after all.
Big Sean Dissing Ryan Seacrest
When Seacrest interviewed Ariana Grande and her boyfriend Big Sean on the red carpet, Grande told Seacrest that he needs to see her tour. Seacrest said that Big Sean and him could hang out during it — and Big Sean did not seem super interested. Burn.
E! Forcing Musicians To Listen to Their Own Music During Interviews
When most musicians were getting interviewed by Seacrest (like Ed Sheeran), their songs were playing in the background. Please tell me that was just for us TV watchers at home and not actually playing in the background for the performers’ interviews.
Annie Lennox Most Likely Not Caring About '50 Shades of Grey’
Rancic interviewed Annie Lennox and they discussed how her song (“I Put a Spell on You”) is on the 50 Shades of Grey soundtrack. Lennox made it clear that she didn’t make the song for the movie and that she hasn’t read the books.
Giuliana Rancic Towering Over Melissa Rivers and Her Son
Melissa Rivers and son Cooper were interviewed by Rancic (Joan Rivers won for Best Spoken Word Album) and Rancic was a head taller than both of them. Of course, Cooper is a teenage boy, so although it was awkward, it was also understandable.
Taylor Swift Towering Over Ryan Seacrest
On the other side of the red carpet, Taylor Swift discussed shaking it off with Seacrest. She looked super glam — and Seacrest looked super short. (Sorry Seacrest!)
Ryan Seacrest Waiting for Nicki Minaj
Seacrest was close to photo bombing Katy Perry and Nicki Minaj as he tried to get Minaj to join him on the E! platform. Perry even told Seacrest to “get out of here!”
Anytime the Glam Cam 360 Was Used
Jessie J may have looked great in the Glam Cam 360, but I’m in physical pain due to rapid eye movements every time it is used.
Kanye West Not Entertaining Ryan Seacrest's Questions
Seacrest was having a rough time on the red carpet. Kanye West and Kim Kardashian were interviewed by him and West was pretty dismissive of him and did not appreciate Seacrest trying to get a release date of Rihanna’s new album. Hey, Kanye. Ryan is pretty much your wife’s boss, so play nice.
Giuliana Rancic Trying To Get Lady Gaga's Attention
Seacrest had already interviewed Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett, but it was so painful to watch Rancic struggle (and fail) to get Gaga’s attention. At least, Rancic was self-aware of the ridiculousness of the moment.
