Eminem Wins Best Rap Album At 2015 Grammys

by Sam Rullo

While many of the categories at Sunday night's 2015 Grammy Awards could be considered predictable, and to some even boring, there is one that definitely stands out for its mix of multiple strong contenders. Needless to say, when Eminem won the Best Rap Album Grammy for The Marshall Mathers LP 2 , it was bound to upset the many fans of his competitors who were hoping for a different outcome. Eminem beat out Iggy Azalea's The New Classic, Childish Gambino's Because The Internet, Common's Nobody's Smiling, ScHoolboy Q's Oxymoron, and Wiz Khalifa's Blacc Hollywood.

Eminem had already been involved in a feud with competitor Azalea after he included lyrics about raping Azalea in his song "Vegas," bringing intensity to this category. Though both Eminem and Azalea are nominated for other Grammys, this is the only award that directly pits them against each other, and it seems Eminem came out on top. However, we don't know how Eminem feels about his win, since the Best Rap Album category was announced before the show started, so he won't be making any acceptance speeches.

And this isn't the only award Eminem won before the Grammys even started. His song, "The Monster," featuring Rihanna, also took home the trophy for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration. But these are the last of Eminem's prizes for the night, as the only other category he was nominated in, Best Rap Performance, was also announced, with Kendrick Lamar winning for "i." Still, winning two out of three Grammys before the awards makes Sunday a pretty great night for Eminem.
