AC/DC Opens The Show

A lot of young people were confused about AC/DC. The whole night seemed a bit skewed toward an older demographic. If you’re an AC/DC fan, great! But if not, it served as a nice way to let anyone tuning into the show a little late feel like they didn’t miss anything.

Sam Smith Wins *All* The Awards

Early in the night, Sam Smith won the Grammy for “Best New Artist” and surprised absolutely no one. He tried to hold it together as he emotionally exclaimed, “I won a Grammy!”

Then Smith took home the award for “Best Pop Vocal Album.” He told the crowd, “It was only when I started being myself that the music started to flow & people started to listen.”

It didn’t stop there! He also won “Song of the Year” and “Record of the Year.” Having the best night ever, he dedicated the awards to the guy who inspired his music, saying, “Thank you so much for breaking my heart, because you got me four Grammys.”

Ariana Grande's Performance

With what looked like the set of Frozen behind her, Ariana Grande sang “Just A Little Bit Of Your Heart,” aka a song written by Harry Styles. The performance was a bit boring, but at least she and Big Sean killed it on the red carpet.

Beyoncé Wins Her 20th Grammy

In her acceptance speech for Best R&B Performance, Beyoncé not only thanked Blue Ivy, but she also thanked the entire Beyhive for supporting her. This was also Bey’s 20th Grammy, a feat achieved only by 15 other people in history.

Ed Sheeran's Performances

Ed Sheeran shined at the Grammys as he sang “Thinking Out Loud.” First, he performed with John Mayer. (Was Taylor Swift OK with this?!) Then, he sang with Electric Light Orchestra.

Paul McCartney Dancing In The Crowd

One of the greatest moments of the night? When Paul McCartney stood up during the Ed Sheeran/ELO performance to dance… But realized he was the only one. Relive the awkward (yet awesome) moment via this Vine.

Pharrell Judging Taylor Swift

There’s a new king of side-eye. As T. Swift danced along in the crowd, she got some serious looks of disapproval from Pharrell Williams. It was hilarious yet perfect. But hey, as Tay says herself, “haters gonna hate, hate, hate.”

Obama's PSA About Domestic Violence

In an unexpected PSA, President Obama spoke during the Grammys about the need for an end of domestic violence. As part of the It’s On Us campaign, this important message segued perfectly into Katy Perry’s performance with Brooke Axtell.

Katy Perry & Brooke Axtell's Heartfelt Performance

Unlike her dancing sharks at the Super Bowl, Perry’s Grammy performance was much more serious. It began with a spoken word piece by domestic violence survivor Brooke Axtell, which was INCREDIBLE. Axtell said, “Authentic love does not devalue another human being. Authentic love does not silence, shame or abuse.”

Then, Perry took the stage and sang her ballad “By The Grace of God.” So powerful!

Pharrell's Mike Brown Tribute

During Pharrell’s performance of “Happy,” which would’ve been memorable by itself, he took things a step further. He took a moment to do the “Hands Up, Don’t Shoot” gesture, showing support for Mike Brown and the Black Lives Matter movement. Amazing!

Kanye West, Rihanna, & Paul McCartney Perform

Sure, these three may seem like a random trio, but their talent is undeniable. Their song “FourFiveSeconds” is fantastic, and their performance at the Grammy’s didn’t disappoint either.

Chrissy Teigen's Dancing

She may not have made a meme-worthy face this time, but Chrissy Teigen still stole the show! Her dancing with John Legend in the audience was absolutely awesome.

Sam Smith & Mary J. Blige Sing "Stay With Me"

If you thought “Stay With Me” was perfect as is, the song got an upgrade when Sam Smith performed with Mary J. Blige. With a live orchestra in the background, it was a beautiful performance.

Beck Wins Album Of The Year

No offense to Beck, but everybody let out a collective gasp when he snagged the title of Album of the Year. He beat Beyoncé, Ed Sheeran, Pharrell Williams, and Sam Smith. Twitter was (understandably) outraged.

Kanye Steals The Show... Almost

Proving he has a sense of humor, Kanye West poked fun at his 2009 VMA moment when he stole the microphone from Taylor Swift. He strolled on stage as Beck went to accept his award for Album of the Year, but then backed off. Well played, Kanye. Well played!

Kristen Wiig's Cameo With Sia

In the most surprising cameo of the night, Kristen Wiig joined Sia on stage for her performance of “Chandelier.” Who knew she could dance?! Check out this Vine to see for yourself!

Prince's Poignant Comments

Instead of talking about his shiny, orange ensemble, Prince’s words are way more important. When announcing the nominees for Album of the Year, he said, “Like books and black lives, albums still matter.”

Beyoncé's Powerful Performance

In typical Beyoncé fashion, her rendition of “Take My Hand, Precious Lord” was flawless. It led perfectly into Common and John Legend’s “Glory” performance.

John Legend & Common's 'Selma' Tribute

A highlight of the night was John Legend and Common’s performance of “Glory.” The Selma tribute was a powerful statement that #BlackLivesMatter. Such a great way to close the show!
