Halftime Shark Costume Might Really Exist Soon

by Emma Lord

For the longest time as a child, I wrestled with deciding what I wanted to be when I grew up. I went from singer to teacher to crushing dystopian YA author more times than I could count. It's been a long journey of self-discovery, but this past weekend everything finally clicked into place. I know what I want to ultimately become: Left Shark. And because apparently dreams do come true, soon we might be able to buy our very own Katy Perry Shark Suit costume from the Super Bowl. It's time to be everything we ever dreamed of and more, you guys. This is our moment for greatness.

If you happened to not catch the halftime show and were not victim to the subsequent tidal wave of "Left Shark" memes this past week (who are you and what have you been doing with your life?), I am referring to one of Katy Perry's costumed dancers, who hilariously botched the routine to make the world a better place. (It was, in fact, an intentional decision by the choreographer, which only made this even more stupendous.) With the internet's demand for Left Shark, and dancing sharks in general, growing stronger by the second, one brave company stepped up to the plate and pitched the one thing we never knew we desperately needed: Our own halftime shark costumes, so we can be awkward and awesome in the comfort of our own homes.

Within a day, this very important Kickstarter launched. I feel like I could wear this anywhere. Office attire will never be the same.

The company is shedding some light on the mysterious process of recreating the suit, and so far they have "Step 1" and "Step 2" documenting it:

It's safe to say I'm not the only one excited about this, either.

God bless America, but most importantly, Left Shark.
