We finally have details about Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively's baby's name, however that does not mean we know what name they've given her (if it is indeed a girl, but more on that in a bit). In an interview with USA Today, Ryan Reynolds says Violet is not the name of his child with wife Blake Lively. On Monday, the actor, or as he now refers to himself, the very sleep-deprived "bloodless ghost of Ryan Reynolds," opened up about his newborn, and, apparently, we've all been calling their baby the wrong name, even though the couple never officially confirmed the name.
He said,
No that’s not the name. I don’t want to get into that but I don’t know where that came from.
(Update: Reynolds sat down with E! News and revealed he and Lively did have a baby girl. He said he's happy to have a house full of girls, "I'll take that any day. I grew up with three older brothers and I know the beatdown that they can cause. Also, I really like my home and growing up with three older brothers we made our house a wiffle house routinely, we put holes in just about everything so having a little girl is…I'll take it.")
(Update: On Friday, March 20, Ryan Reynolds confirmed his daughter's name is James Reynolds in an interview with Today.)
See? Violet is not the name, but I have no doubt their child still smells sweet and is as pretty as a rose, like we all previously thought to begin with. Well, now, we can all go back to speculating about the baby name. Any guesses?
During the interview, Reynolds also revealed he is very, very tired. If you care, sleep is now a turn on for him. He said,
It’s still so new that it’s hard to conceive being away for more than seven hours at a time. I had to go to Sundance this last week. I was more excited to get a good night’s sleep. It was borderline pornographic for me.
Also, to debunk any rumors that the couple is using a nanny, they are not! The baby is up every 45 minutes, but that doesn't really bother Reynolds.
I don’t sleep very much. It’s great. It’s wonderful. But my brain is elsewhere.
OK. So, who wants to start a baby name poll? They've been pretty tight lipped about it, so I have a feeling we'll be waiting for awhile to hear what Lively and Reynolds actually named their baby.
Now, back to that other tidbit mentioned above: did Lively and Reynolds actually have a daughter? Now that I give it some thought, there has been no official confirmation. Per People, "A source tells PEOPLE that the couple welcomed a daughter. A rep for Lively continues to have no comment." Also, if you go back through and read Reynolds' quotes, he avoids using a pronoun. Not once did he say "he" or "she," so there's always a chance the couple had a son and not a daughter like everyone assumes.
Basically, we're still left in the dark, and Lively and Reynolds are very good at keeping secrets.
