Derek Lam x Athleta Is Going To Be Incredible

There are few things in fashion I love more than collaborations. My Prabal Gurung for Target heels will always have a special place in my heart (and on my shoe rack,) and Kate Moss' collections for Topshop never disappoint. There's something special about two artists or brands coming together that brings out the best in both of them, which is why I am stoked for the Derek Lam and Athleta collaboration that was announced today.

This major designer and athletic wear company partnership has some serious potential to rival Stella McCartney's immense success with her Adidas ventures. This will be Athleta's first designer collaboration, and it's a match made in style heaven: Lam's minimalist chic aesthetic is a great pairing for Athleta's comfy and high-performance clothing. The line will include versatile two-in-one items, washable leather, dresses, and custom sneakers, which are all things I'm pretty my wardrobe needs (even though I already own a pair of faux leather panel leggings from Athleta, which I am in love with.)

The 10-piece range will be sold in both Athleta locations and Lam's 10 Crosby stores. The fall 2015 collection will drop this September, and winter 2015 and spring 2016 collections will follow. The line will be priced $58 to $388, so while some of the pieces will be a bit of a splurge, I have no doubt they'll be worth it. Long live the athleisure trend!
