Sandra Bullock & George Clooney Never Dated: What Other Actors With Great Chemistry Haven't?
Sandra Bullock and George Clooney's new movie Gravity is already getting rave reviews. But, while Bullock is out making the press rounds, she's not just getting asked about the movie. She's single, Clooney's single, so the obvious question is... are you guys dating, or what?
Clooney and Bullock have been friends for a long time, so it was easy for her to dispel the rumors, citing that the two are just too similar to date. It seems like everyone talks about the real-life couples who flopped on film, but what about the couples who did well on film, but never actually dated?
Leonardo Dicaprio and Kate Winslet
Kate Winslet and Leonardo Dicaprio both got their breakout roles in Titanic, and you would think that from their steamy performances they would have become an item soon after. Not so: Winslet and Dicaprio became good friends on set, and have been close ever since. Dicaprio even walked her down the aisle when she married current husband, Ned Rocknroll (yes, that is his actual last name, yes, it was legally changed from Abel Smith and no, Winslet didn't take it, thank god.)
Julia Roberts and Tom Hanks
Maybe not as iconic as Leo and Kate, but check out their cutting banter in Charlie Wilson's War and you'll see how the sparks fly between these two. But both actors are married — to Rita Wilson and Danny Moroder, respectively — and the pair have remained great friends.
Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey
Despite their red-hot chemistry in Dirty Dancing, Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey not only didn't date, they didn't even get along that well. The two had just finished filming Red Dawn and were known to feud on set. In fact, when Grey was told that Swayze would be working on Dirty Dancing, she nearly pulled out of the film. Although there was some friction on set, the two eventually reconciled their differences, and Grey had nothing but kind words for Swayze after his death in 2009.
Danielle Fishel and Ben Savage
That's right: they might be parents on TV now, but Cory and Topanga never dated in real life. In her famous Maxim interview (which really just crushed all of our childhood dreams), Fishel revealed that she and Savage never actually dated. "We went on one date, when I was about 15, and by the time the dinner was over we realized mutually that we were more like family than lovers." Savage and Fishel may not be soul mates in real life like they were on television, but at least we can pretend once again when Girl Meets World premieres.
