Garfunkel and Oates Getting Their Own Show

by Tanya Ghahremani

Everyone: Meet your new favorite show. According to Vulture, IFC has made the best decision they could possibly ever make (apart from renewing Portlandia) and have picked up a series starring lady comedy-folk duo Garfunkel and Oates, otherwise known as Kate Micucci and Riki Lindhome.

If you've never heard of these girls, trust me — your lives are about to be totally enriched. They've been around since 2007 and, since then, have released a ton of hilarious music videos and songs on a variety of topics, from the age divide between 29 and 31 to the fact that pregnant women are smug. They also contributed backing vocals to Childish Gambino's demo song, "These Girls," which is pretty much one of his best tracks.

There's not much info about the show available yet, but it's said to focus on the "misadventures of the folk duo as they have trouble relating to everyone but each other." Basically, it sounds like a female Flight of the Conchords, which is pretty much one of the best sitcom ideas ever.

Still not convinced? Check out their rendition of "29/31," a song about the same woman's perspective on life at the age of 29, then at the age of 31. Brilliance.
