How Did Zooey Meet Her Now Fiancé?
Well, Zooey Deschanel is already having an exciting 2015! Just last week, she confirmed that she was "over the moon" about her pregnancy news, and on Wednesday, the actress' rep confirmed to People that Zooey Deschanel is engaged Jacob Pechenik. Yay! While they've only been together — or, together in the public eye — for about eight months, the couple seems to have no problem with moving swiftly along. And if you're as in love as these two seem, why not? So while Pechenik isn't exactly a household name, he's been working behind the scenes in Hollywood as a producer. So, how did Zooey Deschanel and Jacob Pechenik meet?
Obviously, with Pechenik being in the entertainment industry, the two meeting wasn't so difficult. In fact, like many Hollywood romances, they met on the set of a film in which Deschanel was starring. Back in July 2014, photos surfaced of Deschanel kissing and hugging a "mystery man" while on the set of her upcoming film, Rock the Kasbah, which also stars Bill Murray, Danny McBride, and Bruce Willis. Naturally, heads perked up at this news because Deschanel had maintained a pretty low dating profile since her divorce from Death Cab for Cutie frontman, Ben Gibbard, in 2012; although she did date screenwriter Jamie Linden for two years.
Looks like the couple started mixing a little business with pleasure early on in filming, because they looked quite cozy during the summer. After filming wrapped on Rock the Kasbah, Deschanel and Pechenik were first spotted off set in August having dinner at Cafe Aroma in Studio City, Calif.
While we do know that Rock the Kasbah is about a washed up rock manager who discovers a young Afghan girl with an incredible voice, we still don't have many more details on the exact roles of the cast, which now also includes Taylor Kinney. So, I will go out on a limb here and hypothesize that because this is a music centered film, Deschanel will be able to show off her musical talents on screen, whether she's the daughter of said manager or one of his other artists.
I imagine their first meeting could have been when Pechenik was in producer mode and walked in on Deschanel practicing her adorable songs on set. Maybe he was all wide-eyed at her rendition of "Dream A Little Dream" because who wouldn't be? Anyway, Pechenik is a lucky man and I only wish the best for this lovely couple.
