FX Orders New Pilot Written By Louie
Looks like the new year will continue the tradition of lifting up Louis C.K. where he belongs. On Sunday, FX announced that not only will it film and show Louie's upcoming standup special, but they are also teaming up with the comedian to produce and write a new sitcom starring Louie alum Pamela Adlon. She's been nominated twice for her work on Louie, and the new sitcom, called Better Things for now stars Adlon as Sam, a "working actor trying to earn a living, navigate her daughters’ lives, have fun with a friend or two, and also – just maybe – squeeze in some sex once in a while. Her life is funny to watch, but you wouldn’t want to live it (except sometimes)."
Does it sound a lot like Louie? Sure, but we also know that a woman's experience in the same single parent situation as Louie's is widely different. Adlon is crass and funny and also she played the voice of Bobby Hill, so Better Things already shows promise. Plus, with Louis C.K. as a writer, we can probably expect more of his dark, surreal and often sentimental humor.
Louie would probably never admit it, because as we know he's self-deprecating as all hell, but he's having a moment in the comedy spotlight. Earlier this week, he announced yet another show for this month at Madison Square Garden — his first three shows in January sold out in record time, so he's graciously offering a fourth for people who might have missed their chance. More Louie, all the time!
