10 Times Lupita Nyong'o Matched Her Eyeshadow to Her Dress, Inspiring Us All to Be a Little More Color Conscious
I was a big fan of Lupita Nyong'o's recent look at the Golden Globes. That purple floral Giambattista Valli number was just perfect on her, and the styling was on point as ever. Even more than the dress alone, I especially loved her chic round frames, and her carefully coordinated purple eyeshadow.
It's not the first time she's matched the eyeshadow to the couture — in fact, it's a look she rocks quite often. She's not afraid of some color risk-taking when it comes to her shadow, and she's rocked every hue from burnished gold to bright turquoise. Let's take a look at her best ensemble/eyeshadow matches!
At the Glamour Women of the Year Awards
Best use of gold eyeshadow, ever.
At the GLAAD Media Awards
This one’s a little more subtle, but if you look closely, her metallic green cat eye coordinates very nicely with her Antonio Berardi shift dress.
At the MTV Movie Awards
Well, to be fair, she could have worn just about any color and it would have matched this particular dress. That said, the silver and black smokey eye is the perfect accompaniment for her crazy-pants Chanel concoction.
At 'Marie Claire's Fresh Faces Party
Classic Lupita.
At the NAACP Image Awards
Ooh, that burnt orange/purple shadow looks absolutely divine with this Givenchy number.
At an Event for the Academy Awards
The strong lip and even stronger eye make this one of Lupita’s best looks, ever.
At the SAG Awards
Icon status.
At the Film Independent Spirit Awards
You can never go wrong with gold on gold — it’s a look that Lupita’s rocked more than once.
At the Premiere of '12 Years A Slave'
You can’t see the whole dress here, but her lilac lipstick and purple cat eyeshadow matches the graphic print to a T.
