Kelly's "Heartbeat Song" Lyrics Are Adorable
On Monday, Kelly Clarkson debuted her new single, "Heartbeat Song," a ridiculously catchy pop track with loads of hit potential. Written by former American Idol judge Kara DioGuardi (Clarkson's "Gone" and "Walk Away"), singer-songwriter Audra Mae, pop producers Jason Evigan and Mitch Allan (Demi Lovato's "Heart Attack"), and possibly Clarkson herself (it's unclear), the track's lyrics perfectly capture the thrill and excitement of falling in love. Aww! I can't say for certain whether or not Clarkson had a hand in crafting "Heartbeat Song" (she's listed as a writer on the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers website, but not on iTunes), but regardless, I think it's likely that the lyrics reflect a couple of her own recent life experiences.
After all, "Heartbeat Song" is probably one of the first songs Clarkson recorded after marrying talent manager Brandon Blackstock in October 2013. Eight months later, the couple welcomed their first child together, the adorable River Rose. There's a whole lot of love in Clarkson's life at the moment, and, appropriately, her upbeat new single sounds like a celebration.
Check out the full lyrics for "Heartbeat Song" below.
1st VERSE:
You
Where the hell did you come from?
You're a different different kind of fun
And I'm so used to feeling numb
Now, I've got pins and needles on my tongue
Anticipating what's to come
Like a finger on a loaded gun
1st PRE-CHORUS:
I can feel it rising
Temperature inside me
Haven't felt it for a long time
CHORUS:
This is my heartbeat song, and I'm gonna play it
Been so long, I forgot how to turn it up up up up all night long
Oh, up up all night long
This is my heartbeat song, and I'm gonna play it
Turned it on, but I know you can take it up up up up all night long
Oh, up up all night long
2nd VERSE:
I, I wasn't even gonna go out
But I never would've had a doubt
If I'd've known where I'd be now
2nd PRE-CHORUS:
Your hands on my hips and
My kiss on your lips, oh
I could do this for a long time
CHORUS
BRIDGE:
Until tonight, I'd only dreamed about you
I can't believe I ever breathed about you
Baby, you make me feel alive and brand new
Bring it one more time (one more time)
CHORUS x 2
