Golden Globes Dresses at the 2015 Awards Are Glam and Chic

Chic, minimalist and sophisticated: Pretty on point, Giuli. Tom Ford is definitely her friend tonight. We don’t even need to talk about the fur and perfectly placed top slit.

Despite having just had a baby only weeks ago, Rosamund rocks cut-outs and a v-neck beautifully in this Vera Wang gown — proving anyone can wear anything, anytime.

Sticking to the whole chic, minimalist thing, Giuliana shines in this mermaid-cut gown by Maria Lucia Hohan.

Gina wore stilettoed Jimmy Choo’s and Bradley Mischka for a classic, elegant look.

Well, Lorde wouldn’t be Lorde if she didn’t break the norm and stay true to herself. Her pant, top and jacket set by Narciso Rodriguez is chic black-on-black, and perfect for the semi-gothic, always-radiant musician.

Wearing Versace and Tiffany jewels, Amy self-described the look as “glamorous” and she basically nailed it.

In Bvlgari and Gucci, Naomi Watts looks like the ray of light that she is. Her all-diamond snake necklace steals the show, though.

Re-rocking her signature brown locks, Lena looks like a vintage beauty queen in Zac Posen. And we thoroughly enjoyed the reminder that he was her babysitter in the ’90s.

What a snow queen. Her custom Michael Kors gown was a bold choice — especially when you consider that Emily is mother to a wee-one — but she looked stupendously regal all the while.

Metallics were in through all of 2014, and if Jessica’s Versace gown is any indication, it’s looking like this trend won’t be dissipating any time soon.

It would be unfair to presume that Lena and Allison color-coordinated, but they’re both looking divine in red this evening. Allison’s Armani Prive gown is just incredible. And a Cartier bracelet to boot.

Can anything we say do justice to this Chanel masterpiece? Dakota is literally shining and — like Jessica Chastain — ensuring that metallics stay strong in 2015.

Staying true to form, Amy wears royal blue Stella McCartney. We knew she’d continue to rock her classic Stella at the Globes, but the hue is totally different from award ceremonies past. And so on-trend!

Is Tina Fey the fantastical princess of all our dreams? Oh yes. Her custom Antonio Berardi gown is pretty and classic and totally magical.

One of the evening’s most memorable thus far, Julianne’s Givenchy gown is everything. Metallic with a mermaid feel; feathered at the bottom; luxe and shaded. So, so good.

I don’t know anyone in the universe could wear such a low-cut Miu Miu gown, and still come out of it looking profoundly chic and sophisticated. Way to go, Sienna. And those embellishments!

Wearing a Chanel gown (a gown that was apparently crafted by 30 people in the week leading up to the show), Keira looks, well, fascinating. Not sure about the dress — like not sure at all — but she’d look glamorous in a bin bag, so…

Navy blue continues to be a beloved red carpet fav as Katherine stuns us all in Zac Posen. According to Kat, “He just knows what to do for my fuller figure.” OK, weird. But I kind of get it. She’s a curvy (straight-sized) bombshell and looks simply stunning.

Isn’t Claire just perfect in this feathered Valentino number? I’ll always remember her for Stardust above all else, and this gown just brings that film to mind in the greatest of ways. “I’m wearing art,” she says.

As always, J. Lo manages to be just about the sexiest thing on any red carpet. One look at this Zuhair Murad gown, and you’ll see what I mean.

In a high-waisted Lanvin jumpsuit, Emma joins Lorde in being an award show rule-breaker. I love the sparkles, the back-bow, the fact that she brought her brother Spencer as her date. Everything is awesome.

Julianna in Ulyana Sergeenko is pretty much the perfect combination of minimalism and chic perfection. Some would say boring — I say sophisticated.

Never has Calvin Klein looked so good. Reese embodies that Sweet Home Alabama thing in pretty much the greatest way possible.

So maybe the pink thing is too Molly Ringwald circa Brat Pack. Maybe? Nah. This model rocks the “Sweet 16” vibe perfectly in Zuhair Murad.

Classic red seems to be beating navy blue in “most worn” at the Globes this year, and Kate’s Miu Miu gown is evidence that red simply works on the carpet.

Kate Hudson is a goddess in Versace. Let’s forget the fact that she doesn’t age and just focus on the pretty. Mesmerizing.

We know Amal and George Clooney are Hollywood’s most attractive couple ever. But Amal truly stunned tonight in Dior Haute Couture and [possibly] handmade gloves. “She sewed them herself,” remarked Georgie. I hope it’s true!

Twitter is being mean about Jenn’s gown tonight, calling her a “plain Jane” and whatever other cliche thing they can muster. But she’s radiant — you don’t have to wear feathers or furs to look gorgeous, after all. You can just wear Saint Laurent.

Like Jennifer, Maggie proves that you don’t have to go OTT to look damn glamorous. This Miu Miu gown is basically perfect for her fair complexion and classic beauty.

Melissa DIY-ed her gown this evening — and that’s basically the best thing ever, am I right? “I like a weird project,” she said. WIN.

Another evening favorite, Kerry wore a metallic purple Mary Katrantzou gown tonight. She’s a fairytale pixie, and it’s amazing.

Oh, Felicity. The button-detailing on the back of this Christian Dior masterpiece is pretty much icing on an already ideal cake.

Words could never describe Lupita’s perfect John Giambattista Valli gown. If we ever doubted that she’s a princess… well, we never, ever should have. Proof forever.

Unlike her fellow Girls stars, Zosia opted for pastel pinks rather than classic reds. And she’s honestly just super cute in Andrew Gn.

It’s no surprise that the beautiful face of Armani Juniors would be wearing Armani custom on tonight’s red carpet. Quvenzhané is literally my favorite thing. Possibly in all of life. Possibly ever.

Ugh. Why is Diane Kruger so regal? This silver Emilia Wickstead gown is winter wonderland at its finest.

Channeling Alex Vause’s darkness, Laura Prepon has definitely ditched the ’70s and adopted a far broodier persona — I mean, just look at this Christian Siriano gown.

I’m on the fence regarding this Versace gown. I love Lana. I really do. And I love mermaids even more. But this seems like more of a mer-woman fail than a sea-queen win.

Like Lorde, Julia is wearing Narciso Rodriguez — but in a totally opposite palette. It’s classic, yes. But borderline boring if you ask me. Sorry Julia — I do love you, really.

Amanda definitely wore one of the red carpet’s most interesting looks of the night, in this J. Mendel wrap dress. The soft lilac is wonderfully contrasting to her pale complexion and bold, red lip. And exaggerated silhouettes are in, after all.

Dear Heidi: We know you’re a top model — we didn’t need you to wear this slit-side, low-cut Versace gown to prove it. I know you know this already, but you look incredible, OK?

Red continues to kill it on the [yes, red] carpet. And Helen Mirren is by far one of the best looks of the night. In Dolce & Gabanna, she shines like a perfect queen.

Why is everyone tonight such a storybook princess? Anna in Monique Lhullier is just the prettiest.

Forget orange. Forget black. Taylor continues the red-on-the-red trend and (not unlike unlike co-star Laura Prepon), there’s just something mysterious and brooding about her Ralph Lauren look.

Cindy’s the only other gal to rock the royal blue seen on host Amy Poehler tonight, and the American supermodel looks just as, well, royal as ever in Versace (a designer favorite for tonight’s awards, it would seem).

Whilst I kind of love that Jane Fonda is wearing a form-fitting Versace gown with slight mesh detailing, I’m just not sure about the shade. It’s a bit more orange, somehow. And maybe even too loud… if there is such a thing?

Anna Faris in Reem Acra is just so graceful. I don’t know what it is — maybe the chic beige, maybe the soft sparkle – but something about this gown screams Gatsby to me.

OK. This might sound a little cruel — but I actually mean it in the kindest of ways. 22-year-old Greer looks her age in this Lorena Sarbu gown. I mean, maybe she even looks six years younger than her age. But I love a youthful quirk to an otherwise adult gown. And this piece definitely has it.

Thank you Salma, for not wearing red. It’s winter, after all. And with that, I’m just craving snowy whites and silvers and metallic sparkles. And this Alexander McQueen gown fulfills that desire perfectly.
