Black-On-Black is the Ultimate Winter Style Inspo

by Allie Fasanella

Hold up little divas. Before you continue reading this incredible article, open another tab and put on Amy Whinehouse's "Back to Black," — or Beyoncé's cover of the classic tune if she's more your style. I don't mean to be bossy, but this is a must to set the tone for what I'm talking about. Christian Dior once said, "You can wear black at any time. You can wear it at any age. You may wear it for almost any occasion." He was undoubtedly right, and I choose to wear head-to-toe black all the time this winter. Why, you ask? Well, now that the holidays are over and it is 20 degrees outside on the East Coat, sans the seasonal cheer, my soul is basically black. I am feeling blue, so I will wear the dark hue with style, of course. Ya feel me?

The thing is, black isn't just a color. There's a distinct mood or feeling that comes with it. I know when I wear all black I almost instantaneously feel edgier, sexier, and much cooler than I actually am (because I'm not at all). Correct me if I'm wrong, but something about going full-on noir is like donning a suit of armor. In black, you are simply impenetrable. Here I compiled 10 all-black-everything looks, including one of my personal favorite looks from my own wardrobe. I hope these will inspire you to rock the monochromatic look during this gloomy season.

1. SHADY LADY

Julie Sarinana from Sincerely, Jules is stunning in this all-black getup. Surely the setting of this photo was quite a bit warmer than the polar vortex that is the East Coast. But substitute the shorts for some black jeans (like these ones from Forever 21), and you are good to go!

2. A LITTLE BIT OF LEATHER

Fashion blogger and Revenge actress Ashley Madekwe of Ring My Bell expertly wears this all-black ensemble. She must do this often.

3. DOUBLE TROUBLE

Oh, the iconic Olsen twins. This was only one of many photos you can find in which they are sporting all-black attire. It's basically their signature look.

4. DRESSED UP

Candice Swanepoel stuns us all, as usual, in this casual monochromatic look as she pairs plain black trousers with a black... kimono? Wrap top? Alternative blouse? Whatever it is, it's gorgeous.

5. MID-RIFFING

Friend of Candice Swanepoel and wife of Adam Levine (obviously), Behati Prinsloo looks rocker-chic with a hint of '00s tween in an adorable black crop top and high-waisted jeans.

6. The No-Fail LBD

The always radiant Jessica Alba rocks black tights and a plunge-neck tunic dress. She sure has a knack for looking sophisticated and sexy at the same time. Surely it must be a gift.

7. WINTER COZIES

British beauty Sienna Miller wears a cozy winter coat paired with classic black tights, a pencil skirt and the handbag to boot. Doesn't it all just work perfectly?

8. A HINT OF COLOR

Fashion blogger Julia Engel of Gal Meets Glam adds a touch of hot pink with her adorable Nike's to her otherwise all-black ensemble.

9. LEATHER AND FURS

Fashion blogger Olivia Palermo — also a newlywed (congrats lovely!) — stuns in this all-black ensemble like a pro. That faux fur, though.

10. WHO'S THAT GIRL

It's me! This outfit is brought to you by Forever 21, and makes me feel like I can brave the brisk winter chill. I'm pretty sure a version of this look will be my uniform this season.
