If you're a bird, I'm not a bird? Apparently, that's the case here. If you're a lover of romance novels, especially that one following the lives of Noah and Allie (aka The Notebook), then I have some really bad news. Author Nicholas Sparks and his wife Cathy are separating after 25 years of marriage, People reports. Despite his wife being Sparks' inspiration for so many years, the two have decided to part ways. Sparks said in a statement,
Cathy and I have separated. This is, of course, not a decision we've made lightly. We remain close friends with deep respect for each other and love for our children. For our children's sake, we regard this as a private matter.
The two tied the knot in 1989 and have five children together, including three sons and twin daughters ranging between the ages of 12 and 23.
Funnily enough, and thanks to the huge success of his romance novels that have made fans weep and want to fall in love, Sparks has never claimed to be an expert when it comes to love. In 2003, he told People, "I don't like to give marriage tips. There are people who are probably much better at marriage than I am — they've lasted a lot longer. I could probably learn from them."
It's always sad to see a couple part ways, especially after being together for so long and when children are involved. But, with that said, maybe this is what's best for them and their family. Whatever the case, we should wish them nothing but the best and the utmost happiness moving forward.
