Taylor Still Wears Crop Tops When It's Freezing
When you're performing at Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin Eve, you definitely want your style to stand out — but there's a fine line between "fashion statement" and "just plain stupid." And I'm afraid our favorite pop star may have fallen victim to the second. Taylor Swift wore a crop top in freezing NYC, and not everyone was impressed by her bold choice.
The 1989 singer performed two songs in Times Square on New Year's Eve, and chose to brave the 29-degree winter weather wearing as little clothing as possible. Swift wore a black crop top, high-waisted pants that effectively looked like glam sweats, and a glittery blazer for her first song, but when it came time to perform "Shake It Off," the blonde singer took her lyrics a bit too literally, shedding her jacket and performing in just the pants and crop top. She obviously has some serious dedication to "beauty is pain."
Though Swifty could look good in just about anything, many of her fans expressed their outrage with her weather inappropriate outfit on Twitter, and I have to say — I kind of agree. Tay does cold-weather attire so well, that it's a shame we didn't get to see some of her adorable winter wear (especially given that her chosen outfit just made her look like a wanna-be Sporty Spice). So here are a few outfits Taylor could have rocked on NYE that would have been a wee bit warmer.
A Long Sleeved Dress
This at least provides her sleeves, and bonus — the burgundy color is festive.
A Winter Cape
On trend, adorable, and most importantly — cozy!
A Coat, Tights, and an LBD
A cold weather way to keep the elegance.
Colored Tights
Whimsical, but still warm.
Festive Sweater + Beanie
Who else was slightly disappointed we didn't get to see more of Taylor's A+ beanie game last night?
