The 2013 Emmys Red Carpet Had Way Too Many Dangly Earrings
You guys. Are giant earrings back in? Because I can't. For the past few seasons, button earrings have been the trend, and I, for one, have not missed the big hoops nor the dangly chandeliers. There's something about them that just seem so inherently cheesy, even if they cost more than my house, and last night at the 2013 Emmys, the red carpet was overrun by enormous baubles pulling down the lobes of celebrities, and thus, our hearts. Looks like big earrings are back, so proceed through this gallery, and through this fall, with caution.
Constance Zimmer
The HBO star had an Entourage on her ears. Nailed it.
Padma Lakshmi
The Top Chef host wore enormous gold scallop-shell earrings a contestant fashioned during a Quick Fire challenge in her limo on the way over.
Melissa Rauch
The Big Bang Theory actress wore turquoise teardrop earrings, which is funny, because when Jim Parsons won, we found ourselves with turquoise teardrops, as well.
Laura Dern
She didn't win for Enlightened, but her earrings were super long and sparkly, so there's that.
Jewel
If anyone can or should were giant earrings, it's Jewel. She's forgiven.
Allison Janney
Even if we're not that excited about her new show Moms or her choice of ear wear, we still love Allison Janney.
Amy Poehler
Orange earrings and a black dress? Hmm. It wasn't our favorite look, but maybe Amy's just showing some support for her favorite Netflix incarceration drama.
Sofia Vergara
You'd be hard pressed to find Sofia without super-sized earrings, but these look like they weigh more than Lily Pritchett-Tucker.
Katrina Bowden
On 30 Rock, she makes fun of Liz Lemon's terrible outfits and old age, but in real life, Katrina could take some tips from Tina Fey, who killed it last night.
Brooke Burke
I think this the first time we've seen Brooke Burke look human.
Anna Gunn
The Breaking Bad star took home the trophy for Outstanding Supporting Actress and we're so thrilled, we'll ignore her acceptance of the giant earrings.
Sarah Hyland
Oh hai, Sarah. Almost didn't see you there behind those huge green things.
Jane Krakowski
The fact that her earrings touch her back is almost as sad as the fact that she didn't take home the Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy. She was robbed, I say. Robbed!
Linda Cardellini
Linda's earrings are more Freaks and Geeks style than the Mad Men glamour we've come to love her for as of late, but her gorgeous hair makes up for those triangular distractions.
