Let's add this to the long list of reasons why many are jealous of this country turned pop singer: During Friday's Billboard Women in Music luncheon, Aretha Franklin serenaded Taylor Swift with "Happy Birthday." Now, T. Swift's birthday isn't until Saturday, December 13, but who cares? Aretha Franklin serenaded her! Talk about a meaningful gift. I have a feeling this is going to be hard to top! Swift was over the moon with Franklin's serenade and tweeted, "Aretha Franklin just sang 'Happy Birthday' to me and it will take me decades to recover. #goals." Yeah, that sounds about right.
Swift was at the event receiving the honor of being named Billboard Woman of the Year for the second time. I guess you could say the event turned into quite the memorable one. As she accepted the honor, Swift said,
Events like this where we have the most powerful people in music all gathered in one room, events like this give me hope that the right conversations will start to take place, and I invite you all to join in the conversation. The greatest moment of the year for me was when my fans went out and proved that if you provide them with a bold statement and pour your life into an album, they'll buy it.
Seeing as Franklin sang to Swift, does this mean we can expect a duet with these two? I have no idea, but I have a feeling this is one song many fans would purchase and enjoy. Who wants to start the petition for the duo to collaborate? Come on! Let's show these woman some R-E-S-P-E-C-T.
