Sam Smith's 'Like I Can' Video Is Beautiful

by Tanya Ghahremani

One of the best new artists of this year, Sam Smith, has done it again. A week after receiving a massive amount of Grammy nominations for his debut album, In the Lonely Hour, Sam Smith has just dropped a new music video for his single "Like I Can," which is, perhaps, one of the most underrated tracks on his entire album. Like the track, however, the music video is an aesthetic masterpiece, featuring beautiful imagery of New York City told through the eyes of a group of friends — and it's a great watch.

While the song's lyrics tell the story of someone desperately in love with another who seems to be looking for love in "all the wrong places," the music video doesn't quite match the story the song tells. Instead, it follows Smith and a group of male friends as they experience a quintessential day in NYC, looking totally dapper in tuxedos. There's some great shots of the city, specifically the Brooklyn Bridge and the skyline, and the details of their NYC adventure are even better: I'm particularly glad they stop for what appears to be Italian food, because seriously, Italian food in NYC is just the best.
