First and foremost, let me just come right out and say that I'm a huge fan of TVD 's Damon Salvatore. If you don't believe me, then just come over to my apartment and check out my life-size cardboard cutout of Ian Somerhalder. (I'm actually not kidding.) However, throughout my entire Vampire Diaries journey, there have been a few (very few, mind you) moments when Paul Wesley's Stefan was actually dreamier than Somerhalder's Damon. I know, I know, what blasphemy is this, right? But that doesn't make what I'm saying any less true. Many of us may be Team Damon as a whole, however, from time to time that younger Salvatore brother has managed to weasel his way into our hearts and make us swoon when we least expected it. You can try to deny it, but I assure you that it has happened.
Granted, Season 6 is a poor example of this particular claim given that Stefan's been kind of a douche during almost every episode. If you look at the bigger picture, though, you'll be able to recognize a few key moments where Stefan truly came out on top. Like when, you may ask? I just so happen to have collected a handful of pivotal examples, proving that sometimes the good guys don't always finish last.
When Stefan Comforts Caroline About Her Bloodlust
He may not be acting like the greatest friend toward her this season, but when Caroline first made the transition into her vampire state Stefan was there for her like no one else was. While sweetly washing the blood from her face, he calmly explained to her that she's not a monster and is more than strong enough to make it through this. He was that confident in her, even back then. And just like that, Steroline was born.
When Stefan Dances With Caroline
The only thing I can't resist more than a Salvatore in a tux, is a Salvatore in a tux that's dancing. And you have to admit, the man's got some serious moves.
When Stefan & Caroline Fall Asleep Together
I wasn't intending on most of these being so Steroline-linked, but I guess it goes to show that Stefan really is at his best when he's around Caroline. (Aren't we all, really?) But their chemistry is so palpable, and yet so simple, that it makes Stefan seem less broody and, therefore, a lot more fun. Even when he teases Caroline for flirting with yet another British guy while he was off being tortured all day, you can't help but fall in love with his playful sarcasm.
When Stefan Kisses Katherine
Proving that Damon isn't the only Salvatore capable of having a steamy kiss in front of a fireplace, Stefan and Katherine share a very passionate kiss that, I'm sorry, contained way more sexual chemistry than anything he had with Elena. (Which is funny, considering the two characters are both played by the same actress.) Usually Stefan's dreaminess comes from times when he's sweet and understanding, but here it's completely physical and boy-oh-boy does Wesley know how to kiss on-screen. The hand placement, the in-control stance, it's just all so good and certainly swoon-worthy.
So well done, Stefan. We really do love you and your hero hair.
