Charli XCX's New Song Is a Party Anthem
"We're feeling so outrageous, just like we're famous!" Charli XCX exclaims on the chorus of her new song, "Famous." The 22-year-old British singer-songwriter's new album, Sucker , isn't officially out until Dec. 15, but iTunes Radio is now offering fans an exclusive first listen. 2014 was a really big year for Charli: in May, she landed her first No.1 single on the Billboard Hot 100 chart as the featured artist on Iggy Azalea's "Fancy." A couple of months later, "Boom Clap" became her first top 10 record as a solo artist. And as if that weren't enough, she was just nominated for two Grammy Awards! Wow. I've listened to Sucker, and I think that "Famous" could be Charli's next major hit (after her current single, "Break the Rules," takes over the charts, of course).
"Famous," which features pop music producer Greg Kurstin (Sia's "Chandelier," Kelly Clarkson's "What Doesn't Kill You (Stronger)"), is a sunny, up-tempo pop track with an infectious energy and an irresistible hook (not unlike Icona Pop's "I Love It," which Charli co-wrote). On the first verse, Charli sings:
Bored on Friday night
Spinnin' 'round just like I'm hypnotized, oh
Need some neon lights
Wanna feel like I'm electrified, so help me out
Get your boyfriend's car
Come and pick me up, oh
Let's take it for a ride
What trouble can we find?
"Famous'" sing-along chorus will undoubtedly make you wish that you could actually party with Charli. It just sounds like so much fun:
One night and we're gonna come and crash the party
Weren't invited, but we're feeling so outrageous
Just like we're famous
Got one night and we're gonna come and get it started
Now we're falling down the stairs
We act so shameless
Just like we're famous
If you like "Famous," you can stream Sucker in its entirety for free on iTunes Radio now! Be sure to pre-order the album, too. It's a good one.
