You Can Now Rent Ugly Sweaters for the Holidays

Rent the Runway just keeps getting better and better. First, it began providing us with an easy, affordable way to acquire event dresses. Then it announced the opening of a brick-and-mortar store and started a subscription service for designer accessories. And now? Rent the Runway is renting out ugly holiday sweaters so you don't have to buy them! This is big news for anyone with too many ugly sweater parties on their calendar this December and not enough closet space.

The apparel rental company took to Instagram this week to announce this new service for the holiday season. A quick glance at the "Ugly Holiday Sweaters" tab on the Rent the Runway website reveals a hideously festive selection of vests, cardigans, and pullovers emblazoned with garland, red flowers, and various Christmas-y motifs. These sweaters each retail for $30 to $80, but you can rent them for $15 a pop! Not a bad price to pay for some holiday silliness, in my opinion.

This is such a fun, innovative idea. For a company that started out sort of one-note (renting occasion dresses can only take you so far), Rent the Runway has proved itself adept at creating growth with exciting promotions such as this one. I strongly urge you to rent your ugly holiday sweaters this December and save the extra closet space for something you actually want to wear.
