'Love Actually' Is A Must-See This Holiday Season

by Kelly Schremph

Well, folks — December is officially upon us, which means it's now socially acceptable to kick your Christmas merriment up into high gear. (Though if truth be told, we all know most of us have been secretly rocking out to holiday tunes on Spotify for a good two weeks now. OK, fine, three weeks.) So while you continue to work your way through all those Thanksgiving leftovers and ride that tryptophan high all the way to the finish line, there's one other very important thing you should start filling up on — and that's Christmas movies. Tis the season for binge-watching, my friends, and while there are a ton of amazing classics to choose from, nothing will fill you up with the holiday spirit quite like watching the 2003 hit film Love Actually .

For years there's been a great deal of debate centering around this movie's awesomeness, which, honestly, I've never really understood. I mean, if you put enough charming British actors into any film, odds are I'm absolutely going to love it. These are just facts, people. But this film is so much more than that and offers not one, but multiple views on different kinds of love between different kinds of people, proving that love (actually) is all around us. If that isn't enough to tug at your heartstrings, I don't know what is. Plus, did I mention it also stars a pre-Sherlock Martin Freeman?

Like I said, great movie. However, given everyone's busy schedules, it can be hard to find a good time to sit down and watch this cinematic gem, especially if you don't know when it's supposed to be on. But fear not, fellow movie watchers, for there are many different ways for you to get your Love Actually fix this holiday season that can easily be worked around even the toughest of work schedules. So mark those calendars and check out all of the options below. Because to me, this movie is perfect.

Dance On Over To Netflix

Like with most things in life, Netflix has the power to solve your movie woes. Subscribers can stream Love Actually any day, at any time, and watch the world's most adorable (and fake) Prime Minister strut his stuff in the best way possible. Be careful, though — once you fall down that Hugh Grant rabbit hole, it's hard to ever come out.

Make the Ultimate Commitment

Unfortunately, Netflix appears to be the only enabler of our Love Actually obsession. (Even ABCFamily's 25 Days of Christmas has given it the cold shoulder.) So if you want to catch this film on any other streaming device, you're going to have to pay for it. Amazon, iTunes, Vudu, and On Demand are all viable options, but I recommend heading to the nearest store and simply buying the DVD outright. Because if you're going to commit to something, you might as well go full-out. After all, everyone loves a grand gesture.

Catch Highlights on YouTube

Though I enjoy all aspects of the film, I'll admit that one of its biggest draws comes from the spectacularly entertaining dance numbers. Whether it's Hugh Grant shaking his booty or Bill Nighy putting his own unique spin on the holiday season, these musical highlights are well worth tracking down on YouTube. All you'll want for Christmas is to watch this over and over again.
