The New 'Star Wars' Trailer is Here

by Martha Sorren

Until now, the filming of the new Star Wars film has been kept pretty under wraps. But now that Star Wars: The Force Awakens has a trailer, fans finally get to see what the new generation of the series is going to look like. The teaser is a minute and 30 seconds of nostalgia meets the modern day which should satisfy both die-hard fanatics and newcomers to the franchise.

With such a beloved series, it's hard to imagine anything can live up to the glory days of the 70s and 80s films, but so far it seems The Force Awakens has something for everyone. We don't really know anything about the plot yet; the trailer is basically just a serious of pretty impressive images of landscapes and high tech space ships. But fans can delight in John Williams returning to score the film (so that familiar epic theme song is in there).

There's also a lot of new gadgetry that is technologically updated while staying true to its roots. Droids that roll, landspeeders that fly on their sides, and a dizzying view of the shiny Millennium Falcon dipping and diving. Oh, and lightsaber swords. Because one rod of energy wasn't scary enough.

Without knowing the storyline, it's hard to tell if this one will measure up to the original trilogy. But so far the trailer has me convinced that at least the graphics will be pretty spectacular. Check it out for yourself below:
