It hasn't even begun production yet, but based off this cast list alone, I'm calling it now: This show is going to be a must-see. According to Deadline, Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon are joining a new mystery TV series from Boston Legal creator David E. Kelley, titled Big Little Lies, which is based off of Liane Moriarty's novel of the same name. So, two Oscar winners and creator like Kelley? I am so in, I already want to set my DVR for this thing.
The series will have a limited run, so no one has to worry about Witherspoon and Kidman being too tied up with filming schedules to make movies. As for the plot itself, Vulture reports that the show will follow three women whose children are in a kindergarten class together — and whose lives are turned upside down when one parent loses their life during a riot at the beach town's local elementary school.
Witherspoon and Kidman are just the latest in a bunch of A-list celebrities opting on take on a television series role: And, after the success of True Detective and the McConnaissance, I can't say it's not a smart career move. Take note, guys: Television is officially the new trend.
Big Little Lies has no network yet, but it's set to be shopped around networks in the next few weeks.
