Peeta is Made of Boyfriend Material

by Martha Sorren

When I saw Mockingjay Part 1 this weekend someone standing in line asked me whether I was Team Peeta or Team Gale. "Team Peeta, duh," I answered. "That's the only option." But sadly, not everyone feels the same way. I blame Liam Hemsworth. He's so hot that he distracts people from the fact that Gale would actually be a terrible boyfriend in real life. (He's so quick to anger!) Meanwhile, Peeta would make the best boyfriend to Katniss (or anyone) hands down.

Obviously I'm talking about the non-hijacked Peeta here. Like Katniss said, it's not his fault he was left behind for the Capitol to turn into a weapon. But [spoiler] he does get better eventually. So I've looked at his track record before and after the hijacking to make my decision, and I stand by what I think: he'd be a great significant other.

It's possible that I'm a little bit biased because I love Josh Hutcherson and I love Peeta. But I also have proof that Peeta's a better boyfriend than Gale. Abs aside, (though Hutcherson looks great with his shirt off, too) when it comes to boyfriend material, Peeta is the only option. Duh.

HE'S INTERESTED IN GETTING TO KNOW YOU

Which is good, because guys who talk about themselves all the time are the worst.

HE'LL ALWAYS BE THERE

No matter what, he stands by your side.

HE CAN BAKE

Those cheese buns he makes Katniss sound delicious. A baker boyfriend is basically my dream come true. Besides, he can make your wedding cake and save you money because those things are expensive.

HE'S CREATIVE

He loves to paint and actually camouflaged himself to survive the first arena. That kind of creativity ensures your relationship won't be boring.

HE'S GENEROUS

That pearl he gave Katniss was such a sweet gesture. And let's not forget that his own talisman in the Games was a locket full of the people Katniss loves to remind her why she needs to make it home.

HE HAS STRONG ARMS

In Mockingjay, Katniss goes on and on about Peeta's safe, protective arms that warded off her nightmares. I'd like a pair of those, please. (And the boy they're attached to.)

HE'S NOT ALWAYS SERIOUS

It's important to find someone who can laugh with you, too. (Has Gale? Ever?)

HE HAS A GOOD MEMORY

Peeta remembered that Katniss used to wear her hair in two braids, that she picked a dandelion after he gave her the bread, etc. You know he'd never forget a birthday or anniversary either.

HE'S THOUGHTFUL

When he [spoiler] plants those primroses to honor Katniss' sister that was so sweet. No one asked him to do that; he just saw Katniss was hurting and decided on a way to try to help.

HE PUTS YOU FIRST

He was totally willing to sacrifice his life for Katniss in both arenas. That's pretty powerful.

HE'S HOT, TOO

Go away, Gale. Peeta can get it.
