Adrienne & Brandi's 'RHOBH' Feud Is One Of The Messiest In 'Housewives' History
It may be Season 5 of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, but it certainly feels like Season 3 all over again. That was the last time former cast member Adrienne Maloof appeared on RHOBH before popping up again at Kyle Richards' White Party during the Season 5 premiere. Season 3 was not only memorable because it was notoriously Adrienne's last, but it also gave us one of the most explosive and enigmatic feuds in Real Housewives history between Adrienne and Brandi Glanville, the perennial troublemaker.
Of course, Adrienne and Brandi ran into each other at Kyle's White Party, and they sat down for a little one-on-one time, noting that they had some issues to resolve. Well, we unfortunately didn't get any fireworks between them because they both suddenly had a change of heart and felt that a party was neither the time nor the place to have this discussion (unlike in Season 3, when it was the perfect time and place). But they did make plans to talk over coffee, and the hopefully drama-filled chat will be featured in the upcoming episode of RHOBH on Nov. 25.
We got a little taste of what the beef is between these two ladies during the Nov. 18 premiere of RHOBH, but the entire saga is too entertaining not to indulge in again. In case you need a refresher, here's why Adrienne and Brandi have a lot of issues to resolve.
It all started during a ladies' trip to Ojai. Fresh off of a cold apology between Adrienne and Lisa Vanderpump who started off the season in a spat, Adrienne got into it with Brandi. You see, Brandi apologized to Kim Richards for all the ways she'd done her wrong in the past, so they were having a bit of a moment, which led to Kim bursting into tears, as she tends to do. Noticing this, Adrienne butted in on the sentimentality and said, "Uh oh. Somebody's crying!" Brandi was not having this, and she told Adrienne to "Shut the f*ck up."
Adrienne, along with pretty much the entire cast, was aghast that Brandi would say the F-word, because for some reason they don't know Brandi at all. I mean, the woman only speaks in profanities. How could they just notice this now? But anyway, Brandi apologized for what she said, and all seemed to be forgiven.
But nothing ever stays resolved for long in Housewives land. In the next episode of that season, Brandi talked trash about Adrienne in her absence at a dinner party at Sur with some of the other Housewives. You know Lisa loved every minute of it. Among the general bad-mouthing of Adrienne, Brandi dropped a bombshell on the other Housewives that Bravo omitted from the episode. We didn't see or hear what she said about Adrienne, although we later learned that it was the totally-not-shameful fact that Adrienne used a surrogate to give birth to her twin sons. We could only see the shocked reactions of the other Housewives to the gossip; the surrogate was never brought up.
Of course, the gossip talked about at the dinner was going to get back to Adrienne eventually. Kim was the messenger who told Adrienne at a celebratory party for Kyle's husband Mauricio. Whatever Brandi said previously was referred to as a deep, dark secret about Adrienne's family. Adrienne and her then-husband Paul immediately confronted Brandi about it, where insults were thrown and lawsuits were threatened. Adrienne and Paul then left the party in a huff.
Soon after, jabs that Adrienne took at Brandi during Mauricio's party suspiciously ended up in the tabloids, namely how bad of a mother Brandi is and that she sleeps too late. Brandi told Lisa she was afraid Adrienne and Paul would sue her over the allegedly defamatory comments she made, and Brandi claimed later that season that she was, in fact, served. However, Adrienne refuted this claim. She also denied selling any stories about Brandi to the press. Of course, the two argued over these accusations at, where else, but Kyle's annual White Party.
Adrienne was basically out of the picture the rest of Season 3, with the exception of popping up to announce her separation from her husband Paul. Frequent cameo-maker Faye Resnick also blamed Brandi for breaking up Adrienne and Paul's marriage. Then, Adrienne left RHOBH and didn't show up at the reunion, so these two were destined to never reconcile, because you can't do that sort of thing off camera, now can you?
But lo and behold, Adrienne announced she would be returning to RHOBH Season 5 "in cameo roles." "There were some unfinished situations that I felt the need to kind of mend and come full circle," Adrienne told Us Weekly in August. She was obviously referring to her mega-feud with Brandi here.
So will Brandi and Adrienne actually be able to resolve their issues, or will this be yet another Housewives fight that just seems to go on and on and on forever? For the selfish sake of our own entertainment, let's hope it's the latter.
