Mary Lambert's AMA Outfit Is Cause For Happiness

by Marie Southard Ospina

Is Mary Lambert one of the funnest, most lovely humans to grace the celebrity world? She stole our hearts from the moment we heard that operatic voice of pure magic in Macklemore's "Same Love" last year. But then she released "Secrets" and our adoration only skyrocketed from there. "They tell us from the time we’re young, to hide the things that we don’t like about ourselves, inside ourselves," she sings. THIS is the confident, girl-power anthem we have always needed -- coming from a plus-size, lesbian woman who has been actively involved in reprograming damaging but accepted ways of thinking that hinder the gay rights and size acceptance movements. As if all of this weren't enough to grant her hero status, Lambert is also an epic dresser. Just look at that floral, vintage swing dress she wore in "Secrets," (and don't think we've forgotten about that Viking getup). So, personally, I couldn't wait to see what she would wear on the red carpet at tonights AMAs.

Saying Lambert reached perfection would not be a use of hyperbole. Continuing in true, body-positive fashion, her gown shows off her gorgeous legs and upper arms (two parts of the body that curvier babes are not encouraged to show off), and showcases just how stunning the fuller-figure is. It's part vintage, too -- with an added asymmetrical touch to bring in the whimsy. So, yeah. Basically, I would like to start planning my proposal to this Queen of Curvaceous Wonderment, and fast.
